hey guys so I’ve got a question regarding the front runner tracks on a camper shell.

I have an ARE Z Series cap and while it’s being painted I’m getting the tracks installed to run a full front runner setup in the near future.

Does anyone have the measurements from inside to inside of the tracks to fit a front runner? I want to make sure the tracks line up with the rack mounting system. Currently I have them measured out to match the width of the weather stripping on the cab. If that is incorrect I’d like to know so I can contact the shop and let them know.

This is on a 2016 DCSB if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance.

having the rear cap tracks equally spaced as the front cab might not work, might be worth waiting until the cap is on and you pick it up from paint, if the 3rd gen is anything like the 2nd gen... the roof line of the cap is slightly narrower than the roof of the cab

here is a pic of my truck, '12 dcsb with a cap, front runner rack on the cab, cap rails slightly inside of cab rails width

Great video. Thanks for posting it. That makes me slightly less stressed.

Do you potentially have the measurement from inside track to inside track on your shell? I think we measured 41inches. That seems a little far apart for me personally so I may tell them to bring it in a few inches.

I will not have a tape measure until tomorrow morning.... but tag me a reminder again tomorrow in this thread and I will run out and measure it up for you

just by eye it is a solid 3 inches inside off the factory black plastic rails

Have you called front runner customer service and asked if they had suggested widths for the tracks? They have a great customer service try giving them a call.

    Update:

Called Front Runner. They were incredibly helpful as always and said to mount an inch to 2 inches inside the weather stripping of the cab. So I’ll update my body shop guy’s measurements tomorrow.
