Ok, this has been puzzling me. Just to the left of the push to start button there is a little vent like part. Half a dozen or so vertical slits/holes in the panel.

    What are these for?

I think it is the temp sensor inlet if you have auto climate control.

    Oh.....weird. Thanks for clarifying!

There must be another one someplace on the passenger side in that case...no?

I noticed this for the first time a few days ago and wondered as well! I don't have climate control, but that makes sense.

On the cars that we had with dual zone ACC, no. As long as the system knows the cabin temp at that spot, it can approximate the dual zone temps. This is usually done with input from a sunlight sensor also. I'm talking about systems in normal cars like the Taco, not S-class Mercs and such.

Just empty space for us. The temps sensors in our other cars used small fans and a heated element like the MAF. It would eventually get clogged with dust and need to be cleaned out. I really don't miss ACC at all.

I've never had a climate control work for me. I've set it at 70 or whatever, and it seems like you're still fiddling with the dang thing all the time.

I will say I'm also kind if missing the dial on the 2nd gen. It had a very small range for temperature. The 3rd gen has a huge range. It's also a little difficult to see which position it is in. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

You touch the start / stop button with it if the battery dies.

Same here. I never got along with ACC. The Taco just seems to work great with the basic setup. I do move the temp knob around a bit as the engine warms up, but it's not a big deal since my hand is right there for the shifter. But then, I wish cars could be had without A/C. That's not gonna happen, but it is generally useless weight for me.

I always thought that was the Mic for the hands free control. If those slots are the temp sensor, where is the Mic?

Fart control. Engine looses power if it detects foul gases. Now you know why some people complain of loss of power. Except for tacos made in MX.
