Hello! I am new to the forum but have been reading as a guest for two years since I got my '16 Taco. I have factory installed flat running boards with what appears to be a plastic or composite coating. About a month ago after our last snow I noticed a crack along the top exposing the metal underneath. I brought the truck to the deal to see if it was covered under warranty. Service manager noted a small nick in the side of the running board and said it took a hit and buckled just enough to cause the coating to crack. Not covered under warranty. These cost $460 to replace plus labor for a totoal of $520. At that price they should be durable enough to withstand a bump. Anyone know of issues with these? I included pictures too.

More than a bump to cause that. If the damage wasn’t caused by you, or someone driving your truck, than perhaps someone miss judging pulling into a parking spot and smacked the side? Hard to tell from the pics. Maybe from someone trying to jack it up from the board?
