First post here. Sorry for the length. I’m looking to lift my truck a little bit. After reading around on here, I decided to go with the Bilstein 5100 shocks and the OME 888 coils with an AAL in the rear. The man I spoke to at the local shop said the AAL would be a rough ride and was unnecessary if I wasn’t towing or hauling anything heavy. He recommended a 1.5 block and ubolts instead and gave me quote of $900 for the kit plus another $500 in labor. I would do it myself but I have no prior knowledge nor access to necessary tools. Just came here for thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

Get a list of the products he is including in this “kit”. I would bet it doesn’t include UCAs which will be needed for that lift height.

UCA’s are not included. I asked him repeatedly if I needed them for the lift and he said no. At this point, I may just go somewhere else.

I would, 900 seems a little high for parts, I paid 330 for 5100s 229 for coils. blocks with hardware are like 100 bucks

I dunno man, I'd strongly consider another shop.

His comments about the AAL are WAY out of place, Tacoma leaf springs are notoriously mushy - anything more than a light load of groceries will make 'em sag almost.

I went with a full Dakar pack (med.), and other than being able to haul stuff without dragging ass the difference in ride quality is negligible. My wife's DAMN picky about that kind of stuff, and she barely notices the difference in town at least.

ETA: The ride offroad is WAY better though! Wife stays home for those rides...

From Low Range Offroad you can get a set of 5100s with OME coils fully assembled with top plates for $399. Add a rear block kit or AAL for $75. Rear 5100s for $160 a pair. Free shipping and you're all set for $635........if those are the only parts you want.

FWIW I plan on going AAL not blocks but price wise I think your shop is way overcharging for what it sounds like they are selling you. I'm also holding off until I can do UCAs at the same time.
