I own a 2017 TRD Sport access cab 6 speed manaul. So, when I shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd ( a lot of city driving) without the AC compressor on my shifts are smooth with consistent torque. When I have the AC on my 1st to 2nd to 3rd shifts are quite different. From 1st to 2nd I've noticed that between 2000 and 3000 rpms the torque almost disappears and my acceleration drops off. I'm definitely not a gear head but I'm trying to understand why things happen on my truck. It kind of sucks when I'm going to pass someone and I lose my acceleration in the process.

Extra load from the AC compressor is bogging the motor down a bit, perhaps?

They gonna tell you it's functioning normally.

In the summer my AC compressor cycles on and off and on and off and on and off every 20 seconds.

Guess what Toyota told me: "Looks like normal functioning. Now get lost."
