Anyone in NY???

Port Imperial / Weehawken is the answer. After years of taking the train from outside of Newark we took the ferry a couple weeks ago. It's a game changer. Get there early in the day, there's a parking garage right there. Depending on the time of day, the ferry runs every 20-30 minutes. You can take it to midtown or Wall Street or World Financial Center. The ferry runs back from midtown till the wee hours, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck on Manhattan.

I don't know about parking in Newark (maybe someone else will chime in) , but free parking situation in lower Manhattan is really tough to come by. Some parking garages overcharge for pickup trucks (I was once quoted $25 extra to park my Taco in SOHO).
Might get "Lucky" with metered parking, and meters accept credit cards.

Of course. DM me if you've got more questions. Another thing - if you carry a knife, don't. There remains a ban on drop knives, or gravity knives, in the city. It's selectibly enforced, and my conversation with one of NY's Finest went better than it could have (I wasn't arrested, and he gave it back to me), but if you're going to the 9/11 museum, you would have to pull it to get through security...

My father just bought a house in Wurtsboro, Sullivan, so you might see me driving through and around when i go visit.

 

Where I am now was nice 20 years ago, now the traffic is ahead of NY, more and more people coming in, sucks!!! Will always miss NY when I am not there!!!
