Come and take it from my cold, dead hands.
3" suspension lift (ToyTec coilovers and wheeler leafs), Yakima roof rack, ARE tonneau, K&N FIPK.
I went from the stock 265/70r16 to 265/75r16 initially w/o any lift. I didn't notice any power loss or economy loss. I went from 265/75r16 to 285/75r16 after a 3 " lift. I noticed the truck struggling on hills that it hadn't before and I lost a solid 1 mpg with the 285. I was rubbing with 285s on a hard flex. Now, I'm back to 265/75 and a happy camper.

Wrapping up, I'd recommend the 265/75r16 with stock power-train.

I know this is a really old thread, but, Taco, do you know what the backspacing is on your wheels.

265/75/16 Goodyear Duratrac Tires, Total Chaos UCA, Bilstein 6112 Coilovers (front) Bilstein 5100 (rear), TRD CAI, TRD Cat Back Exhaust, Rough Country/Lamphus LED lights, rear ARB locker, Baja Rack
I’m looking into upgrading to 285’s. I currently drive Duratrac 265/75/16 C rated tires on my 2011 Tacoma. They look great and ride awesome on and off road. My suspension consist of Bilstein 6112 in the front with total chaos UCA and 5100 in for rear. Can’t decide to stick with the Duratrac again or go with BFG Ko2’s in 285/75/16, regardless which tire I decide to go with im also going to regear to 4.56 to compsate for the lag

Went to 285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxxs. Heavy as F, horrible fuel mileage, sluggish, rubbed terrible and they wouldn't balance.

Now running 265/75/16 Toyo O/C C rated, approx 20lbs lighter on each corner than the Cooper's. Ride is nice and quiet, no shakes, no pulls, return to normal mpg. Happy Camper.

Dakars in the rear and 6112's up front.
