What is this?

there is a small round button-like thing in the front right dashboard speaker on my 2016 Tacoma. In my case it is rattling like a mug. Someone tell me what this thing is so I can decide how to silence it. Thanks.

 

It is the sun sensor for Tacos with auto climate control. For folks like me, without ACC, it is just a plug.

When I killed the cold temps squeak from the speaker grille on the pillar trim, I dropped a bit of krazy glue on that from the back side as a just in case.

When its under 50 I get an annoying rattle. Going to look into this today!

 

Whatever you do, dont push it.

 

Under 50F temps is most likely the grille rubbing on the pillar trim. Some sticky back loop velcro on the side of the grille will make you happy.
