Suspension Travel Testing

    I know the answer for jeeps, but not for my Tacoma.

    I am fit testing the tires and suspension to see where else I need to trim.

    When the truck is completely twisted up with the wheel cranked all the way either direction, and the rear tire is off the ground about a foot or so, is that the complete limit of what the front suspension will compress? It is already broken in.

    Looking closer, it appears that the bumpstops will leave a clean mark on the top of the lower arm if it contacts and presses it in... and that is the limit.

    For the front, take your coilovers off. Obviously put the truck on jack stands, and use a jack to push the front susp all the way up, then turn the wheel. With big enough tires, you may need taller bumpstops to prevent the tire from hitting the upper fenderwell.

    For the rear, you can take out all except the main leaf, and jack up one side at a time. With only the main leaf, it articulates easier (still should support the truck). The rear isn't generally where you have a lot of rubbing issues, so concentrate on the front...
