ICON Vehicle Dynamics is proud to announce the latest addition to the Delta Joint product line – retrofit kits that replace industry standard 1” uniballs commonly installed in a wide variety of arms on the market. These latest ICON products will allow off-road enthusiasts to curb the all-too-frequent replacement of uniballs that can add up to an average of $500 each time the service is required. While this is a minor inconvenience to some, a substantial number of users have reported a uniball lifespan of less than two years in their area, which adds up to thousands of dollars over the life of a vehicle! By expanding the ability for the ICON Delta Joint to be installed in upper control arms other than ICON units, we are doing our part to increase off-road performance and durability of end user vehicles regardless of whether or not they’re utilizing a complete ICON Vehicle Dynamics suspension system.

    DJ_RETROFIT_1_LAYOUT_HIGHRES.jpg

While the industry standard uniball does a great job of allowing the control arms of a vehicle to articulate with little bind, they do have an inherent weakness that leaves more to be desired when used in a daily driven application - exposure to the elements. Whether it be corrosive chemicals used on roadways or the unforgiving dirt and mud that comes with off-road adventure, uniballs allow this debris to build up and eventually work its way into the internals causing wear and possibly failure. Understanding this flaw and the problems that it creates is what sparked the idea of developing a heavy duty, high angle retrofit ball joint which ultimately led to the creation of the patent pending ICON Delta Joint.

What makes the Delta Joint unique is that it brings the best of both worlds to ICON upper control arms with features that make it more robust than a uniball, and at the same time capable of greater angularity than a typical ball joint. A zinc plated housing provides the first layer of corrosion resistance, while a tough grease seal keeps potentially harmful elements out of the inner workings of the joint. Metal on metal construction and a greasable design increase the longevity of the Delta Joint while at the same time allowing for noise-free operation. A carburized taper pin decreases internal friction and further improves corrosion resistance. It is the design of the Delta Joint’s taper pin that allows it to achieve the high angularity required to optimize suspension geometry in lifted applications. Combine these features with the fact that the Delta Joint repeatedly outperformed the traditional 1” uniball in industrial pullout tests and it’s clear that this is a no-compromise addition to the vehicle’s suspension.

ICON Vehicle Dynamics Delta Joint 1” uniball “retrofit kits” are currently available for the following applications using upper control arms that feature 1” uniballs that bear the names or descriptions below:

Kits will retrofit 1” uniballs including:

    WSSX16, AWX16, WC16, WE16, WSSB16, WR16, ABW16 (2.125” OD and 1” Height)

I'm sorry my friend I do not have a discount code. However I'm sure you can ask one of our may dealers if they have a promotion available.

    Any particular grease recommended?
I know the Uni-ball was “special” when it came to lube.

Anything fortified with Molly. We use a Valvoline brand here at the shop. We pump them with grease every 5,000 miles and we do there is still somewhat clean grease in the Delta Joint. So you stay on top of the grease interval, the grease it self will not go bad in 5,000 miles.

Icon_Adrian, don’t the Delta Joint come pre-greased? And the grease you recommend is:
    Valvoline Moly-Fortified Multi-Purpose Grease - 14.1oz (VV633)

No sir, no plans in the near future for a lower Delta Joint. I'll mention it to my engineering team none the less. Thank you.
