Hey my name is Chris, I bought my Tacoma with 97,000 miles on it. As many of you would expect, I have had very few issues with the truck. I named my truck Beaker because of all the noises it makes especially when it was humid... Breaks, clutch, rear suspension... Meep, meep meep meeep, Meep mee Meep.
The only modification that I have done on Beaker is a Home Depot-Special Flag Pole holder. I used some shallow Unistrut, A couple of conduit straps and a couple Unistrut nuts that I ground down to size to fit into the bed rails.
Eventually I had issues with the rear leaf springs making a loud clunk noise. So I brought it in to the dealership to have them check if it was related to the TSB. Sure enough my passenger side leaf was broken, not just cracked but fully broken, and the driver side was cracked.
Recently the radiator cap blew on the way to the mountains for a weekend camping trip and I ended up with an engine covered in coolant
When I got home I replaced the radiator cap and drained and replaced the coolant.
I replaced the front pads and rotors because I realized how bad they would shudder while coasting down the i17 in neutral trying not to overheat the engine, riding the breaks most of the way down the hill.
I replaced the missing AC knob, the broken center console latch and finally got tired of only being able to run the AC on full blast so I hooked up a new wiring harness for the blower motor resistor.
I realize all of these repairs are simple and minimal but its because of this forum that I realized how easy they all would be. So that being said. Thanks to all you TacomaWorld members who share ideas, write up how to's and those who ask questions.
Hopefully I can contribute something to the community in return for all your help.
