it was just entirely a single massive brain fart. I shot full manual, but 1.8 @ 100ISO. I tried shooting the night stuff the first night and had it pretty wide open and it just backfired in the long run. So exposures varied, but I never really thought about it much then got home and looked and was like why. why the fuck did I do that. I would just send the photos to IG as well so... I can live with the shallow DOF

This tunnel is a perfect example of my folly.

Zoom it all the way out to where it would fit on your phone screen, (i hold my phone up next to the monitor) and then that will give you an idea of how it will look on IG. I do that for most of the posts I make for work that involve some type of flyer or text. To make sure its legible on the smaller devices. Im sure this tunnel pic you wouldnt even notice that anything is out of focus.

Wide open shots will always suffer. I make it a rule of thumb that I personally never shoot completely wide open unless I HAVE TO. The fast lenses ill stop down to f2.0 usually, but lenses that are 2.8 I will usually not stop down unless I need or want to.

I was just not really thinking about the photos much. On IG none of the photos will suffer really. Just bummed I really didnt think much about the photos.

Enjoy checking out this thread now and then. Many years ago (pre digital) I was really into outdoor photography. Had a nice Pentax DSLR with many lenses, filters, etc.

Sold all that just as digital was taking off and have been shooting with primary P&S digitals. My last and current being a nice Nikon Coolpix P7100. Really nice camera.

I'm really considering picking up another DSLR and would like incorporate photography into my passions of fly-fishing and upland bird hunting with my pointers.

Currently considering a Nikon D500 with the 18-300 lens. I want a single lens to.cover most scenarios. I know I'm sacrificing some, but I like the versatility of a single lens.

Is 300 going reach far enough for wild life? When I’m with wild horses I’m on a 150-600 Tamron.

It should be enough for here in Maine as we're heavily forested. Usually when you see wildlife, it's not too far away.

What you need is also referred to as a base plate. You can probably find one on ebay.

Pretty decent picture from the spark! Im picky and always expect my mavic to have the same detail as my 5D, so I never end up taking drone photos.. Usually only video.

Thanks DesertDigger! I go to Yosemite 5-6 times a year and always am looking for someone to get into trouble with.

Hahaha, Ive heard that there are a lot of restrictions now. I havent been up since I was a kid. Used to go up there all the time since my grandparents always made a trip and Id go along with them. My grandfather was a professional Kodak photographer, and LOVED Ansel Adams work, which is why hed always go up there and to mamouth and a lot of the national parks.

I like going to Kennedy Meadows and pretty much free to openly explore wherever I like.

There are definitely some restrictions but I pretty much go anywhere I like to take pictures. To avoid the droves of people I go and do a lot of night photography. Its unfortunate but it has turned into an amusement park during the summer months. The Eastern Sierras are always a good option also such as areas around Lee Vining.
