Biggest tire w/out lift?

Anyone have a picture of their 3rd Gen with 255/80-17? I’m curious if they look like pizza cutters and if you had any issues? A pic from behind and one with front wheels turned would be great.

 

I agree about the aggravation. I pay ~$9/mo for legal insurance. When I run into an issue like this I ask an attorney, and if I'm right they write a letter to whoever for free.I get something like 60% off their regular rate if it were to go to court. That hasn't happened yet, and I have had several issues (hello Nissan!) where I used this approach. YMMV, but it generally takes one letter.

 

For the record. 255/85’s are awesome and perform great off-road. Wider tires suck way more gas and weigh a lot more. 255’s steer nicely. Wider is not better unless you have a crap ton of weight into your truck

@ksj thanks bud that’s good advice. I just got rid of my Titan because of underbody rust, so i know all about Nissan and it’s issues. @SpeySquatch thats a great point, I’ve been mentioning tire rubbing and such but never really considered gas mileage. Def some to keep in mind.

Looks like your running a lift with those?

I don’t think you can run anything larger than a 255/75/17? Seems like a 255/80/17 wouldn’t clear essentially being a 33” tire.

Don’t see how this would clear on stock suspension...

 

Yea, I'm running a 2" lift, but even when I was stock suspension I never had an issue either. Pic below



These are 255/85r16 but same thing. It all depends on your wheel spec and your alignment. Also not all 33" tire are equal some are smaller and some are bigger. At maxx being a 32.8" tire really helps.

 

Ya.... interesting. Honestly I see from a technical standpoint the gas mileage, but it’s so minimal it’s not a big deal. The real world differences would be very small.

I’m happy with the 265/70/17s but I’d look into 255/75/17 for next tire for sure. Just bummed on what they have available.

 

I get decent MPG. 16-17 city, 19-21hwy

 

That’s not bad. I’m averaging 15-17 city depending on how I use the throttle. Highway I’m around 19, going 80mph, and have seen it as high as 24.5mpg going 60-65mph.

 

I am going with 265-75-16's once my factories wear out, maybe this year since I have almost 28k on them...

 

If you can’t clear on stock suspension you won’t clear lifted and the suspension compresses. You still need to be able to move through the full articulation even with a lift.

 

I have the "Sport" suspension and have not had any rubbing so far. Suspension is stock. I wouldn't go bigger than this without a lift, as you can see there is not much clearance.

The mileage deterioration with these KO2s is quite noticeable compared to the DM-V2 winter tires I was running. I ordered "C" load rating tires, I hope that is what I have - it's not clear from the picture.

 

Thinking of doing the 265/70 R17s on my 2016 TRD Sport 4x4 stock suspension. Anyone know a good rim size offset/backspace that's needed for this tire to clear without rub?
Found a Fuel Rim D579 17x8.5 that I like
Backspace 4.5
Offset -6

Or unless I have it backwards the same rim comes in:

• Wheel Size: 17X8.5
• Bolt Pattern:6x5.5
• Backspace:5
• Offset: 7

Would either one of these work?

 

Do you have pictures of your truck? how far do the wheels stick out?

 

Mine are offset 20. 17x8. 265/70/17. No rub and look sweet!
