What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Work for yourself. Never in my life I thought I'd be selling car horns and Tacoma parts one day. I work my own hours and it's more profitable than a minimum wage job.

They are just the mirror housing with lights, no mount or internals. Shipping to Philly was about $30, but you can contact them for a quote ahead of time.

My plan is to get some 4runner heated mirrors and combine them with these. Ultimately I'm trying to find some power folding mirrors from a Hilux Surf SSR-G, but they are hard to come by.

 

I had a hard enough time finding the power folding mirror switch. I had to order it from Japan. I'm using the button to activate a timer for the heating element.

Where did you get the lights?

 

They come with those mirror housings.

There are a bunch of power folding Toyota mirrors switches on ebay btw. I got one from Miami for $20 or so.

damn, that sounds awesome...I'd be wheeling almost every day (and probably breaking more shit and consequently spending more)...

Company I work for has an odd policy about the number of salaried vs hourly workers it has, when I got hired a few years ago I was put on hourly...sort of bothered me at first but I've learned it's a pretty good thing (at least at this place). I get a nice hourly rate and I can work as much overtime as I want, downside to it though is that I have to put in my 40 hours a week. Time off is earned based on hours put in so I work to enjoy the weekends, for the most part. I'm usually off by 6pm every day though and live 10 min. from work so it's not too bad, especially for LA.

 

I'm head of IT for a couple call centers. A lot of my job I can do remotely and for the things I can't, work is right down the street about a mile haha.

 

I had a job a few years ago where it was basically a pay cut to go to salary. You got better working conditions but you probably lost about 10k a year. I would just stack 60hr weeks up for the whole summer haha.

 

That's almost exactly what my supervisor told me when he hired me in 2015...he said I got the better deal than the next person they hire mostly because of the ability to get paid better for overtime; salaried workers were expected to work overtime if they were needed to but it didn't affect their pay (unless it hit a certain mark).

 

Sounds like a pretty nice deal. I’m hoping when I graduate I get sent to Texas for 2 weeks on 2 off or something, while I’m younger anyway.

 

Not a big change, but had fun writing up a bit about removing the sway bar a couple weeks ago.

I wouldn't really call it throwing safety to the wind, since you're running better than stock suspension up front. I didn't notice much of a change when I took my sway bar off after putting my Kings on. If I had taken it off with the stock suspension though, I'm sure it'd be a different story.

 

I think the correct spelling of "safety to the wind" is clickbait. Part of my stories are just to make an engaging, fun, read.

 

It’s not really too bad, but I do have Alcans in the back and some spacers up front. So that probably helps it a bit.

 

Currently planning to clean and use as is. I may eventually reupholster them myself, I build footwear prototypes for a living so I'm pretty decent on a sewing machine. Covers would be a good option till then
