2 hours per day x 6 days per week = 12 hours per week

    12 hours per week x 4 weeks = 48 hours per month

    48 hours per month x 6 months = 288 hours

The Silverstar Ultra that someone posted above is rated at 230 hours, so you would need to replace those every 4.8 months based on your driving. And I bet Sylvania’s rating is as liberal as they can get away with. I guess my point is, there may not be anything wrong with your truck.

I would get some retrofits with HIDs, they last a lot longer. The Morimoto D2S bulbs I have are rated at 2,500 hours.

Edit: A little more math.. if you replace halogen bulbs 2 times per year, at $40 each time, that’s $80 per year. Over 10 years, you’ll spend $800. You can get a set of retrofits for less than that (a few hundred less if you shop around) and have to replace the bulbs maybe once during that time.

I just got HIDs so I am hyping them up I guess, but I love them, I’d highly recommend looking into it!

I buy the Sylvania XtraVision which aren't as bright, but last longer. And they are only $20 per pair at Wal-Mart.

    Which HIDs did you get?

Are there any LEDs that are a drop in replacement?

I am using Morimoto bulbs, but in HID projectors. I wouldn’t put LEDs into the stock housings, they would probably get you flashed by oncoming drivers. There are LED projectors available now that would work for that.

    I always have spares myself.

My GF has a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. That thing burns up these ULTRA Sylvania bulbs pretty quick too. I just purchased the basic bulb to see if this does any better with her car. The hours are around 50 more or some thing like that. All I know is the price they want for the ULTRA is crazy.

I have been running Osram Night Breaker bulbs. Looks like they are rated for 300-500 hours. The math I did was 300 hours x 45 MPH = 13,500 miles (I am lazy and leave my lights on most of the time). Not too far from my experience. What gets me is it seemed like my OEM headlights lasted 40k miles.

The oems aren't nearly as bright. They are osram brand. Mine still worked but I put in some osram nightbreakers for the improved light output .
