So you want the cooling fan equivalent to a turbo blow-off valve sound effect? I.E., all obnoxious noise with no performance gain.

There are good car sounds and bad car sounds. 4'5'6'8'10 and 12 cylinders all play a different tune. Exhausts sounds can be loud but not harsh. I have never heard a sweet sounding fan.

Put a whistle in the intake. Maybe people will think you have a turbo.

why do you want your fan louder? I can see the exhaust or a CAI to increase engine compartment noise, but in all my years of driving and taking hot rods to car shows, never heard anyone say, "Hey bill how do you make your fan louder"? just curious?

If you've driven commercial diesel trucks with big engines, you'll probably have experienced the engine roar which IMO sounds awesome. Most of that noise comes from the engine fans spinning up. I was asking for opinions on if upgrading to a heavier duty fan clutch would be a good way to create a similar sound in my truck.

alright, not sure you will be able to get anything louder from a fan, but I guess you can try a few and see how it goes, and you are limited by space in the compartment and probably not a lot of aftermarket places looking into bigger fans for these since the 3.5's run well as is with the cooling setup they currently have..

I have no doubt the current setup provides good cooling. Like a lot of guys on TW, I'm trying to think of ways to make my truck unique.

Replace the silicone oil in the fan clutch with higher viscosity oil.
Land cruiser 80 guys do this to improve cooling at idle and low speeds. Also increases idle AC cooling.
It costs some mpg and power loss, and more noise.

I know what you are saying about the noise OP. When the truck sits hot and heatsoaks, the first few second of driving it make it sound less whimpy. If you have had any older toyota, clutch fan sound was more prominant. Maybe because they werent trying to squeeze every single mpg at the cost of idle airflow. My 87 supra makes more fan noise than engine noise once its hot. Same with old corolla.

Quick time performance electric exhaust cutout. If it works out right It'll go from stock exhaust to dumping right before the muffler at the push of a button. Should be crazy loud on command lol

More importantly be able to turn off the crazy loud on command...

Cool, i thought it was an exhaust brake valve. Make sure you make a video of that when you install it.

I actually do like how the truck sounds the first few seconds when the fan clutch is running at high speed so I am with you op but I do not believe the power loss is worth it.

If someone developed a solution like the eco-boost, it would be cool I guess.

These trucks have absolutely enormous radiators and a/c condensers. I suspect it has to do alot with the quiet fan.
