I have a 2014 4 cylinder with 98,000 miles. I would like to do the "filter mod" on mine. My problem is that my pump has a cover over the pump. The pump cover sits right up to the washer fluid reservoir. I cannot figure out how to get that cover off. The only videos that I have found ( k[b77UqzlyJiiy ) already has the cover off. It was clear on how to replace the filter but I didn't find it helpful about how to get that cover off.

Does someone have a tip on how to remove that pump cover?

I tried that but that clip by the washer reservoir just won't pop loose.
I am thinking about cutting the cover off with a dremel cutting disk but don't know how much room I have. I can't cut into the actual pump housing, I'm not sure how much space there is between the cover and the housing.
Prying it twists the rubber mounting feet and I sure don't want to damage those.

Just fiddle with it more until you get it to unclip. You should not need to cut it.

When you say fiddle with it do you mean unloosen the the front one which is easy then wiggle it front to back until the the back one comes loose?

Is it easier to take out the washer fluid tank?

I took the two upper bolts on the fluid tank off. It gave a little more room to work but I couldn't get that @#$%^ clip on the cover to come off.

I did this mod today and it took about ten minutes. My inner foam filter was hard, but no crumbling.

Did you have a cap over the pump?

I am having the devil of a time getting that cap off, do you have any hints. The clip next to the washer reservoir gets me every time. I have tried screw drivers, credit cards, hooks to unfasten that thing. No luck.

Anyone got a part number for the UNI (or K&N) clamp-on filter for the air injection pump?

If the washer reservoir is in the way, that means you are still working under the hood. Remove the screw in the center of the pump cover and take off the cover (with cap attached). Then try to remove the cap... you might have more luck taking the cap off the cover if it's in your hand and not still under the hood. Hope this helps you.

I had an issue also and realized I missed a screw or something. I can't remember exactly what is was.

I just realized this aftermarket filter will do its job only if the pump housing (upper and lower) form a good seal together. If they don't seal, air will leak in around the edges and the original foam block will do a better job of filtering.

I finally got mine on. The foam was fine, a little dirty. The interior of the pump housing was very clean. I am going to recheck the upper and lower pieces making sure it is well sealed. The rubber washer on my seemed Okay but a worth a look. Good tip.
