Taxes are based on your ZIP code, so buying out of state is a net zero. For him, I'm sure it's quite a but less since California prices are generally much higher.

No extra cost. They are charging me the California taxes so I don’t have to pay anything when I register it here.

I have a written document stating how much I’m paying before I head there.

    Thanks.

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to pick up a 2018 TRD Off-Road double-cab in cement with AT and the premium leather package. I miss having leather in my vehicles since my last two purchases have been fabric. Since they are now offering leather in the non-TRD Pro trim, I decided to go for it. The premium package on the Toyota website is going for $3395. I did a build with everything I want and it came out to:

    Starting MSRP:*
    Tacoma TRD Off-Road
    $36,115.00
Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee: $995.00
Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 Double Cab
    V6 6-Speed Automatic Short Bed
    Options:
    Premium Package (Double Cab)
    Technology Package
    50 State Emissions

    Total MSRP:*** $40,505.00

Since there aren't any TRD Off-Road trims around my area (SoCal) with the leather package, it will have to be a special order. A dealer is willing to let one go at invoice price which is roughly around $38K. I mentioned to him that I have a trade-in (2013 Honda Fit Sport) and some cash to put down. Is that a good deal?

    Thanks,

    -M

My 2013 Tacoma had 86000 miles plain Jane SR5 was $29500 and I got $ 21500 on trade WTH. 5 years later.

Everyone I've read on the 2018 prices paid thread is paying $38k for that truck. 4k drop in value is absolutely normal, even with the 2nd gen. You get value in resale when you hang on to them more than a couple months. You may want to consider selling on your own to get a little more value back. Trade in is always going to cost you.

I don't know how they are getting those prices, because Toyota never gives incentives or rebates. They pretty much stay retail here. They were offering 3500 off leftover 17's as the 18's were arriving? I did get the first 18 in Lbox cement grey loaded with all the options, either way I'm stuck with it for a few more years. I'll have to get a tune I guess to make it a little better! Power and fuel economy . I think my fuel economy is worse than my 2013 Sb. I really need the extra box space, I think that's 1g more?

I just finished with that process. I had a trade-in I planned on turning in when the truck I was placing the order for arrived. In my experience, the trade in was the variable. What I thought would be a 2 month process turned into a 4 month process. If you can decide on a firm price on the new vehicle, that's at least a good start, but you're going to have to stay on top of your trade. About 2 weeks out from your truck arriving based on their systems, you should be able to agree on a number for the trade in so there's no surprise at the end. That's not a bad deal on the truck to me. I'm sure you're aware of the thread talking about the prices folks are getting on their '18's, but if not...check it out to compare. Best of luck.

I came to an agreement and ordered at $38,200 with some accessories. I've been seeing some people getting $37K making me wonder if I should try to negotiate lower. I think your best bet is to hang on a little while so the loss isn't so big. That drop in value to $34k will probably hover for at least another year.

I agree, going to have to keep it a while I think I might get the ov tune maybe that will make it right . I really negotiated I but then again I got all the options and a long box, as well as 700$ in accessories I didn't want they were already on it from factory. If they are really getting deals like that then Great.

As long as they are showing you real money on your trade in as well! Go for it! But I would take it for a nice long test drive first, try cruise control and go up moderate and steeper hills to get a good idea of how it shifts. JMHO where I am with hills and etc, I could have bought a platinum leftover tundra and been better off probably 2-3 mpg difference at most. Which size, driving and luxury would have made up for it 10 fold. I miss my 2013 gen 2 TACOMA!-(

So I've been seeing the DCSB Sport with Tech Package ($800) MSRP for $38,200 - $38,500 in my area which is quite a bit more than this MSRP shows plus the $800 for the package. Is this do to my region & how far off would this make the invoice price difference then?20180312_101810.png

That's separate from MSRP added at the bottom. Just seems like this list is a lil off from what I'm seeing in my area. Trying to find out what invoice actually is based on MSRP

Yea I've been doing my research from window stickers in my area vs the master list. Trying to figure out invoice price to see how much wiggle room the dealership actually has. Think I got it figured out & thanks for the valuable info! My truck should be here sometime this week & then off to finance

Keep in mind that each dealership gets their trucks at a different cost. I was going off of that master sheet at first, but the invoice from the dealership was totally different.
A friend of mine that works at the dealership confirmed the price difference. They ended up losing money on my truck.
One thing you can do to see the invoice number is if you have a Costco membership, schedule an appointment with their associated Toyota dealership. Costco price is $800 above invoice. When i saw the numbers, i told the guy forget the costco price (cuz it is at a set price, you can't haggle that number) what numbers can he give me. I had another dealership already offering something a lot lower, so i told them if they can beat it (not match, cuz there's no point in matching with no incentives) i'll walk out with it. It was the very last day of the month, so the dealership agreed. Totally happy with the purchase!

my JBL package sounds so sexy. I love it. I bought mine used though and so I didn't really have to pay that premium, but wow it sounds good. I have listened to radio/bluetooth in other trucks and as soon as you start playing anything somewhat loud, the stock radio sounds a little crusty.

Wow, diggin' deep! You quoted my post from August of 2015. -- Thanks for the answer. I'm glad I went with the JBL option as well.

Not sure where is the best place for pricing advice, this thread or the How much you are paying for your 2018 Tacoma? Let me know if I should delete one or the other...

I'm looking for pricing advice for new purchase (time to replace a beloved '05)...

Looking at '18 4x4 TRD Off-Road DCLB with Prem/Tech & accessories: All Weather Floor Liners+Sill Protector, Cargo Bed Lights (some regions call this a Kit instead and its not installed), Bed Step. Preferred color combo is Magnetic Gray Metallic with Black leather trim, but in some regions I'd have to select Midnight Black Metallic with Black interior instead, which is fine.

I've built and priced on Toyota's website with a couple different zip codes and MSRP runs 42k-43k.

Willing to one-way ticket anywhere in US for a good deal... best region to buy and target price I should try to get to?
Seem to be seeing around 38k in some old threads, but wanted to double check.

    Thanks for any insight.
