Put a small piece of scotch tape across the rock chip. It'll keep dirt from getting in it, thereby making a cleaner and less detectable fix when injected.

Yeah in the first month of owning my 2016 I was cruising through the Texas panhandle in some crazy high winds that were blowing rocks and huge tumbleweeds all over the place. Every few minute some 3 ft tal tumbleweed would come out of nowhere like a deer waiting to run out in front of you at just the wrong moment. Ended up with a couple scratches on the bumper from those and one nice rock chip directly in my view when I’m looking straight on. It couldn’t be in a worse place lol. Go figure.

I have at least 5 good chips/small spiders in my windshield. I have been lazy and not replaced it yet. It is the original, 2006 windshield. To be fair, I guess, not bad for 12 years of ownership. I think my insurance deductible is $100 for the windshield, with Allstate.

Some idiot dropped their bike on my hood while I was out on the trail in my first few months of ownership. Scratched clear through the paint into the hood material. I don't mind all the scratches on my truck but I'll admit that one irritates me.

Prolly one of the neighbor kids practicing throw to home.... I got one like that going about 70... thankfully the kid didn't hit my windshield head on, it was a big rock and I saw it coming. Grazed me, only have a tiny crack/chip. Could have been a disaster.

Kick the damn thing and take the blame for the first dent in case your wife or kid do it.

Some kids egged my truck at 10k miles. Didn't see it till the next morning and it ate to bare metal on 3 panels. $1000 premium paid and all is good, except my wallet.

Put a piece of clear packing tape over it to lessen the chance of it spreading and take it to a place to get fixed. Shouldn’t cost too much.

Check the edges of the glass (the black areas) to see if there are any bubbles. That would be replaced under warranty.

I didn't want to scare OP by saying @ 4 months and 2300 miles, I got $12,000 in hail damage. Mine was parked but my wife was in her car when the storm hit. She was kinda freaked out since windows broke. We were lucky, she was safe and life goes on.

Got my truck on a Monday, by Wednesday my front bumper and grill were damaged at the tire store.
They didn't get my business, and I had to drive a Sonata for a week while my truck was repaired.

    Work in progress...
I bought the Blue Taco and the salesman said we will have it washed up an bring it around to Ya. I told him to forget that washing it stuff. Bring it around because I am gonna throw a rock at it. He looked at me funny and I told him, no worries, this is just a thing I do.

Yup. Mine I had just stopped into work on my day off to talk to my boss. He wasn't there but was "on his way." Hung out for 20 minutes while one of those freak supercell thunderstorms popped up and dumped golf balls on us...

I was really surprised it didn't do more damage. I was disgusted at the time but also couldn't do anything but shrug.
