What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

The only prep work was done by scuffing it up with some 3M stipping pads. I bought some finer 3M pads to use in between coats but didn’t need them.


It was easier to lay a towel down on the counter and place the 3M pad on top so I could hold the exhaust tip and rub it back and forth to scuff it up.

I also primed and painted the hardware. Taking off the exhaust tip was a pita by the way!

painted "TOYOTA" quicksand today, used automotive touchup.

 

Nice job! I have an extra set of badges soaking in bleach to remove the chrome. I plan on painting them matte black. I don’t mind plastidip, just wanted something more permanent.

 

So, I was having issues with my sub's response, so I started looking at other subs that would work with my sub box. Before following through on buying a new sub (which I'm still considering) I filled the box with polyfill



Still did nothing much for improvement. So I did what @Mr Marv suggested, I swapped my sub output wires at the amp.

So maybe, just maybe, I had the wires incorrect for the sub (those were the only ones I didn't label)....

The response is completely different and much MUCH better...

 

Thank you very much! I bought the primer etcher today. It wasn't off white on the lid but said it was for metal. The color is not really grey but close. It shouldn't matter. I already had the high heat paint. I bought some 400 grit paper too, and some 000 steel wool just in case. Oh and mineral spirits to clean everything. Yeah, I'm definitely doing the hardware too. I'm even going to spray the pipe behind the axle.

You talking about the running boards? Those are 4" iBoard running boards. Got them on Amazon.

 

I lined the weather strip directly next to the channel making sure it was perfect, then I used a straight edge to make the marks on the weather strip. I just made sure I was meticulous with it. Turned out great but you can’t see it really. I’d do it again though.
