    watch your window tint, don't carry in the state, head on a swivel (kate steinle).........hopefully you don't have HID or LED lights or any color other than what came one the vehicle from the factory............CHP is the the biggest issue since 100% of the ticket goes to their coffers.

    From what I am being told by the people I still talk to, traffic enforcement has stepped up something fierce...

    I’ll have to take @riz_atx to La Flor for tacos when he gets back so he can tell me stories of his journey.

    I can't speak about carrying firearms in Cal, but all your vehicle mods are ok, they can't ticket you for any mods that are legal in the state the vehicle is registered in.

    yeah, cali doesn’t have reciprocity with Texas’ LTC. None of the west coast states do.

    NOT TRUE!!!..the will write the piss out of you for mods that don't conform. CA banks on out of towners for the revenue stream.
    CA own vehicle code states ALL vehicles in the state of CA must conform to the rules.....because it does not specifically exempt other state vehicles then you must conform the courts have ruled. no front window tint, loud exhaust, different color lights, HI-LED lights, no limo tint without a permit, must have mud flaps to the bottom of the axle, no plate cover, smoked lenses....basically all the fun stuff is a no no.

    fire arms must be carried unloaded with a trigger lock or other device in a closed case in the trunk or in the rear seat, ammo must also be in a case in a different area of the vehicle......and IF you get stopped and the weapon is no CA legal...the asses will take it..

    yet you can walk down the street with a full length katana on your hip.......

    Grab the funtreks book for the Moab area. It coverage Moab, arches and canyonlanda NP and breaks down all the trails really nicely.

    @Capt. Stabin

    Just pulled this from California DMV site.
    Concerning vehicle equipment: "The vehicle must comply with the laws in the state that it is registered in."

    This came from the Cal DMV question and answer section:
    "A California officer can’t write you a illegal equipment ticket for equipment that is registered and legal in a different state. However, some equipment modifications such as exhaust can still be ticketed due to noise ordinances. If the exhaust exceeds the decibel limit you can be cited for violating the ordinance, which is a non-moving violation. It doesn’t matter if it’s the exhaust or a stereo, breaking the noise ordinance will still draw a citation. With out of state plates, the driver is more likely to get a citation than a warning because most people won't return within the 30 day time period to attend court."

    Real talk -

    I went to bed last night with every intention of going to Audi South and trading in my 4Runner for a 2014 Allroad this morning. The Allroad has been a “want” of mine for many, many years.

    Got in 4Runner this morning and started hesitating. First sign. Then I referred back to True Cost to Own. Gas is a wash, due to premium requirements of the Audi turbo. Maintenance kills the Audi. Second sign.

    Then the nail in the coffin. I knew @ChadsPride wouldn’t like it. Nor would my mom. So...I decided to keep 4Runner long term.

    And will be ordering up some sliders.
