TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

So, we might need to cull that list. There have been some weird things discussed, like Johnson pumps. That could be taken different ways and who am I to judge.

 

That will require time, not to mention we will have to discuss what is missing from the tips and tricks that is worth adding on there.

Actually the truck seems a lot more responsive at low to mid range RPM.

Also it’s WAY more quiet than before up to 2500 RPM, but after that it still gets pretty rowdy depending on throttle position and load.

We ran out of time, so there is still another resonator I need to put on. I may do that today if time permits.

Trying to decide if I should just MIG it or go blow $1000+ on a TIG and related stuff. The machine I wanted is out of stock until June. So I can either buy a different machine, MIG it or live with it the way it is for a month or so until the machine I want is back in stock.

 

Kinda wish my exhaust would fall off. Give me a reason to get the one I want.

 

What is the reason for not doing a true dual exhaust on these trucks? Less y-pipe headaches= 2 cats, 2 mufflers.

 

I hate it...but I’d wait for the one you really want. Don’t settle ( not with the stuff you’re doing)

 

Thanks for the update on availability. I am going to order it and put it in my other valve body. Then switch it out after I can tow a bit with the TransGo kit to get an actual comparison.

MIG with stainless wire, or wait for the proper machine. $1000 is beyond the conservative side.

The kits are cheap if you just wanted to grab one yourself. I just paid $27.92 free shipping from ebay

 

My kit showed up yesterday. Just waiting for the tranny assembly line to arrive. Hopefully I’ll have time to get it installed today

 

The weather is crap today so I am going to weld in a Magnaflow 59955 in each side of the y pipe on my spec.u equal length exhaust. For those in the know, is it better to put them as close to the header as possible? Does it matter? Do I want to keep them the same distance from header on each side? They are only 8" long so they actually can fit in a few spots in the y-pipe. They will be mig welded and it will be sealed but not even remotely pretty I am sure. Thank you in advance.

And this is with one less resonator than he had before. The actual tone of the exhaust is totally different now. Smoother and more refined sounding.

You gotta TIG it dude. Dont want to contaminate all the work we did with a sub standard looking weld.
