I am so thankful for stability control after coming home from work today! Firstly, I actually made it home from work in one piece instead of rolling my truck into a ravine. It started misting about 30 minutes before I left work. I was going to run an errand and took a back road "short cut" to skip out on some traffic. The paved road was very jittery and curvy. I came around a sharper than expected curve and there stood a deer. I swerved to miss the deer and actually missed the dear. HOWEVER, before I knew it my rear end was out from under me and I was headed for the white line. I steered into the slide to regain control; it didn't work. I was just about to give up and ride it out when the stability control applied the right rear ABS and stopped the slide while the truck was moving. If I hadn't had stability control on the vehicle, I would have rolled the truck and be in the hospital or worse. If you have ever experienced stability work, you know what I mean. So thankful!!!

Just think. A lot of people don't like that feature of their Vehicles.

I dont.. especially when i try and get drifty.
Stability control feels like its gonna rattle / break the truck into pieces.
Glad it saved you though OP.

Glad you made it out safely. One of the selling points for me was safety and glad to hear it paid out for you.

My mother has a 2015 Subaru Forester with Eye sight and adaptive cruise control. I absolutely love both. The 2018 Tacomas have both of these features. The eyesight has saved my mother and her sister several times. The one thing I don't like the thought of is the lane assist on the new Accord....it actually steers the car back over. I think that's definitely too much control.

Mine shuttered briefly during a low speed slide on snow and kept me from taking out a mailbox last winter. I'm a fan.

Good stuff, I’m glad it worked out for you! I haven’t had it kick in on my Tacoma but I have on my work truck. It definitely saved me and I am glad to have it!

I know what you mean for sure.

Last winter I had the back end try and step out on me while going up a slight incline (2WD). It was an isolated section of black ice, and soooo slippery the yaw was induced by ever so slight throttle in 5th gear (manual trans). The VSC kicked in as I was beginning to counter steer, and immediately corrected the skid. Say what you want about nanny devices and such, but this particular tech allows you to make a mistake and get away with it. Yes, you could no doubt overwhelm the system with abrupt/inappropriate inputs.

Stability control saved my stupid ass also. I work 2nd shift and was headed home after a hard day, dog tired, going a lot faster than I should and my attention drifted thinking about some stupid crap that happened at work. When my attention returned to where it should have been all along, I was headed off the road to the left and both driver’s side tires were already on the shoulder. I turned the wheel gently to the left fully expecting to go into a spin and roll when I hit a rapidly approaching culvert. Stability control kicked in and my brand new truck (2 weeks old) calmly came back on the road. Thank you Toyota!!! I love my new Taco !!!

Yep. Yeungling had something to do with that. Not the original incident, but my original post.

I also wanted these safety features. I fishtailed more times than I can count in my 1st Gen, esp in rain. 3rd gen feels much more stable and confident.
