Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of some good trails near Morgantown. I have a friend that lives right off campus of West Virginia University and I want to take her wheeling for the first time.

 

I’m not back yet but Preston County is where all the fun is.

I think there are some up around Chestnut Ridge Camp, about 10 miles east of Morgantown (Coopers Rock Exit). But it's been a while since I was up that way.

 

My lady mentioned it the other day. I’ve been out a lot in the Bruceton Mills area (the next exit down off 68) and can’t wait to get the truck back east in a few months.

 

Nothing legal out that way, you need to get farther into Preston county for that

Cooper's Rock, Chestnut Ridge and Virgin Hemlock Forest are all no goes. There might be some gravel roads going toward the big sandy off Laurel Run but nothing anymore exciting that my parents driveway.

 

Where are you? I’m in Bruceton for another week. Maybe all the no no spots were the ones I was told about.. won’t have the truck back for a few more months

Those are actually custom made retrofits. Found a guy on a Facebook Tacoma group that used to do it, and he said he would build mine. Not gonna lie, they weren't cheap.

Here on TW there are a few members that build them, and are of really good quality as well! LSC15, kustom54lighting to name a few... there's more, but I just can't remember their names right now.

 

Question for you guys ..

I’m coming from Hawaii and running on. 285/75/16 Duratracs. They’ve still got some decent life left, but they’re getting louder and louder day by day. Looking at going to a more conventional AT tire but want something decent in snow. Not worried about load e rating.

Main question beyond something decent in snow (figure Cooper ST Maxxx, Mickey ATZ P3, Falken Wildpeak, etc.), is would I benefit in going to 255/85 for the weather or just stay at 285/75?

Gonna be in Morgantown/Preston Co area (a lot), and never owned a truck when I lived there before. Not looking to get stuck or have my ear drums run out by duratracs unless they’re worth their weight in gold.
