Nothing new really besides trying to get my CB to operate with a good SWR over the weekend.... I have a new Coax on the way that should be here Tuesday that I will try and get installed on Tuesday night so I can see if that makes any difference, hoping that it may as my current Coax is falling apart from abuse and the previous way it was mounted.

Other than that, I am prepped for Jambo as much as I can, just need to finish up the packing and check the list again and then get the provisions together.

    Post Jambo Trip Report.

Forcefully removed front license plate and put some nice scratches in the bottom of the front bumper and a dent or two. Pretty sure I may just mask off the bottom half of the bumper and repaint the entire thing...
Bent the mid skid on one side of it.
Used an @ARCHIVE Hammer Hanger as some form of skid
Bent drives side rear bumper, but was able to get that back in place.
Steering alignment is way off so will need to get the truck to the alignment shop tomorrow.

Looks like the armor did it’s job! Are you gonna leave off the front plate after you paint it?

No, I will put it back on so I don't get stopped by the police as the motorcycle cops in Tyler will pull you over for any little infraction. It is currently in my passenger seat so if I do get pulled over I can show them that I don't really have a way to mount it up right now.

hahaha, thanks, it could be better. We have to keep our beards more trimmed now that our work environment is more corporate or I would have it grow longer if I could!

    I bought these from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CGXSNC0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I added them to the bed bolts so I now have 4 more tie down points in the bed, was not a hard project, was just a pain in the ass to get the front two bed bolts out as the ends of the threads were very dirty and rusty and I could not really get a way to clean them, had to use a breaker bar for leverage and then wd-40 and clean the threads and everything once they were out. Just have to take a dremel or a file to the bolts once they are out as they have some retaining threads to keep the washers on, so have to take those off so you can put the tie-down points on them. As well as making the bolt holes on the tie-downs to 1/2" but I just used a step bit and it made it simple.

Did some painting this weekend as well...

I noticed this a while back, but just now got around to trying to fix the issue... so when the new rear end went into the truck, I did not realize that the new wheel bearings were just straight raw metal with no coating or anything to keep them from rusting... which they had started to really bad (i somehow did not take a before picture of them). So I took the rear wheels off the truck, got out the dremel with the little wire brush and cleaned them all up, masked them off with some painters tape and put two good coats of Caliper paint on them and then let them dry for about 36 hours or so... hopefully this will hold up and keep them from rusting more as they honestly started to look like shit compared to everything else on the rear axle. Also noticed that the drivers side brake piston that I had replaced a while back was rusting really bad as compared to the stock OEM one that is still on the passenger side, damn Autozone parts...

While I was painting, I went ahead took a grinder with wirebrush to the brake drums and got rid of the rust on those and painted them with the same caliper paint to help with surface rust on them and make them look a lot better as well.

I did not get a picture of these before I put the wheels back on, but I will tomorrow when there is some sunlight on them, but they look a lot better than the round rust pies... Now, I just need to do the front brake calipers to match... so maybe next weekends project...

Pretty much no one will ever notice this except me, but I would rather deal with it now, than later down the road anyways. So I guess you can say I am now in the random projects that can be done in a couple hours on a Saturday morning season...

    IMG_2520.jpg

Then cleaned up the bottom of the front bumper with the dremel and painted it with Rustoleum Satin Black as it was the best match to my powercoating. Now I just need to put the front plate back on somehow...

20 minutes, a bottle of Simple Green, and a soft bristle brush. Just don't spray directly at the Alternator and I cover my fuse box area and some of the electronics with walmart bags just to be on the safe side...
