It depends what you're looking for. At least around these parts, BC, the 05s and 06s absolutely eat brakes, rotors, and front wheel bearings. The 07s and 08s seem to have this problem sorted, but I still did front wheel bearings at 120,000 miles. All 05-08s were included in the rust recall, so that might be considered a negative. Someone already mentioned it, but 08 is the last year without all the electronics, so if you like that type of truck, 08 was the last year without those "features". 09 was the first year of the electronics and I actually can't recall many people having poor things to say about the addition of them reliability wise other than having to turn some of them off for serious wheeling. I like the 10s and 11s just because they are the last years without the SAI system, which as mentioned is an easy fix, but you really wish stuff like this would work from the factory without having to do a $5-10 fix. Plus, if you don't like to deal with stuff like that on your own even small things can seem like big jobs. Luckily, were have this place though. TW has some of the best DIY guys and girls around and they are more than willing to help. I know the 15s have added a cycle to the SAI system to "solve" the issues of the system, but I'm not sure you can rely on this or if the mod should still be done. The 15 guys will be able to chime in on this as I don't have any personal experience with it and can't speak to it. For the record I have a 2007, and it is approaching 200,000 miles. Its had wheel bearings, shocks, and a little front end work but other than that it has been an absolute dream to own. Regular maintenance with quality fluids and it just keeps doing exactly what it is supposed to do. I to went from an older Toyota PU to my second gen, and when the time comes I'll probably replace my truck with a 15. In saying that I haven't even driven a 16+ yet for fear I will love it. I think the best truck is going to be the one you pick for the reasons that are important to you.

I second this. My 2014 has no external temp/compass, and the rear view camera is in the stereo instead of the Mirror. Having it on the mirror would be much better.

Near as I can tell I have the other upgrades. 4 leaf springs, air pump does a second purge....

I think 2013 would be the ideal year.

So correct, my best buddy is working as a Toyota mechanic, I have a 2015 quad cab Black V6, he literally told me / don't trade it in for a 18, the 15 was the best year and the Toyota dealership and mechanics know it. If the mechanics don't snatch it up, the dealership crank up the price!

I'm partial to the 13 for the temp/ compass and back up camera in my review mirror. I found it easier to keep on eye on the surroundings in the mirror vice head unit models versions. Still all good trucks, I'm only worried about the frame and secondary airinjection pump problem.

    Agree lol ...
One of the reasons I bought a 15 is because I really liked the way the front look, I thought about the newer ones but couldn't get over the size of the grills ...
I understand others likes the semi-grill look but just not me ...

I can think of one, seal problem on doors cause a kazoo sound in heavy cross winds. Was fixed free by the dealer when the tsb was mentioned.

Can't you just remove the stock foam filter and cover and clamp a breather filter on the intake of the air pump?

Toyota has extended warranty on the pump and price has dropped a lot on the part. Also if you do the uni-filter mod the pump has no reason to fail since you remove the brittle foam.

Strange, my 13 has it in the mirror, along with direction and backup cam. I like the backup cam in the mirror, unlike others. I look back and forth from that to mirror. Kinda does double duty for me.
