    just out of curiosity, how come the temp check threshold isn't at operating temp? Seems like it would save a lot of headache and guess work. Only thing I can think of is Toyota wants to reduce the risk of burns??

    They were likely following Aisin recommendation for fluid check.

    If they wanted to make it user friendly, we'd be checking it via a dipstick, or when the transmission is cold.
