Sometimes commercial vehicle plates need to be run a certain way to get a return on them, I don't know why but it happens sometimes. LEOs can have it run through their NCIC operators and they should get a return, assuming they put in the correct numbers and state.

 

They may have several trucks and each one may be different depending on things like whether or not they were purchased at the same time.

 

Yep, by far. They may have leased that trailer and no longer have it. If it's theirs then more than likely they will have the LP recorded somewhere.

You should have followed the truck till you got reception,and then called the cops and said you were hurt,the police would have sent someone out right away,its a felony in most states too leave the scene of an accident when someone is injured,remember that next time.You have too make the accident serious if you want help from the lazy police.Also O.P use your horn too get the drivers attention,and too get them too pull over.

 

False hardly,I am a retired Battalion Chief,90% of the folks in accidents dont even realize they are injured until the next day,also in some states mine included the police will not even come out unless there is an injury involved,so if you want too cover your rear,its a good idea too say you think your injured,which is the first thing the alarm office will ask you.Sorry but this is today's real world.

 

As probably one of the very few here who own a commercially registered trailer, I can state with 100% certainty that my tags are registered to the trailer by it's VIN. This in Ohio, but I'd be fairly certain that other states are going to be the same way. Not real sure why it would be hard to track this down if that's the actual plate number.

 

The corollary to this is that in some states, like mine, the police must be called and will show up to all accidents to take a report. Failure to report an accident is a crime and they can take your license.

If that trailer would have had an incident with someone “ important “, the driver of said tractor trailer would be in jail already.

 

Or, just think how fast folks get parking tickets and tolls when driving a rental car.

That’s the word on the street these days.... the only way to keep the best rates is to hop every few years. Newcomer gets a better teaser rate than a loyal client. Newcomer’s teaser rate slowly goes up over the next few years.

 

That's what I've heard too although I've been with my insurance company for 5 years straight now. I still check every renewal if other companies can beat my price. One day, the better deal is going to be hopping carriers.

Unless you go with Allstate, their teaser rate only lasts 6 months then they screw you right after that. I almost got suckered into it but after asking a few questions they finally told me what my rate would be after 6 months, I couldn't believe it. I'll never use that company due to their sneaky tactics.

Are you buying direct or going through a local agent? I've had Allstate for a few years now, and aside from adding vehicles my rate hasn't changed. They even went through a local mutual insurances Co. For my homeowners policy and that is about 1/3 what anyone else would do for identical coverage? My agent is super easy to deal with. One email with a VIN and i'm done for adding a vehicle. I recently got rear ended and they handled everything with only one phone call when it happened.
