when I was a teenager I would often joke that when I have a mid life crisis I would buy a Porsche. one of those nice ones with a big fin in the back and convertible.
although I am not having a mid life crisis, I am at that age (51). when I was a teenager I enjoyed fast Volkswagens but I eventually ended up getting a job where I needed a truck.
the first Toyota truck I bought was a brand new 1989 Toyota pickup. stock as can be.
it didn't even have a stereo , just a plastic cut out so you could add one yourself. no carpet, no air, a v4 with a 22r engine. that thing ran great for over 300k miles before my ex-wife drove it into the back of a Volvo at a stoplight.
that truck made me fall in love with Toyotas and I felt myself feeling more comfortable driving in a truck. then I bought a jeep and discovered off roading and 4 wheeling. I loved the jeep but I always wanted to get back to Toyota, I needed a 4x4 Tacoma
after the jeep I have had a series of Tacoma's. I bought a 1999 trd off road that was a climbing beast. I loved that truck and in its day it was ahead of its time . that was my first generation Tacoma and I babied it for years but eventually I started taking it to work. (roofing) and you know how that goes . one scratch leads to another etc. etc.
about 6 years ago I picked up a 2005 Tacoma sport Prerunner. not 4 wheel drive but it was very nice and I couldn't pass up the deal. I started driving it as my everyday driver and basically parked my 1999 off road. my workers ended up hounding me so much to sell it to them that I finally caved. I regret it to this day.
so sorry I know this is a long story but last January I seen the commercial on tv about leasing a Tacoma for $330 month so I went in.
I ended up buying what I consider to be the best Tacoma in my area. I put down a deposit and waited for 4 months. I knew exactly what I wanted and it was not available in my area. so I waited, and waited, and was on Tacoma world way too much. I had 5k worth of upgrades for the truck before it was ever even built at the factory. I made the joke with my mechanic that I have the dress but no girl to put it on. but finally it came.
the first time I seen it I got goosebumps. I still do..
this is MY DREAM CAR. I wouldn't trade it for any Porsche.IMG_3811.jpg IMG_3741.jpg

my problem now is it too nice and clean to take it in the dirt. eventually I will but for now its my GARAGE GUARD and mall crawler. at least until the brand new feeling wears off.

tuff country 4" lift made especially for the 2018 Tacoma. I had Toyota install it so that I would have the warranty. also they made all the
adjustments needed for all the technology involved with this truck. eventually I would like to get a higher quality kit but this will get me by
    for now.
    thanks a lot man.

Awesome looking truck. I started with a toyota similar to yours. It was was hand me down from my grandpa. He bought it new in 84. It was one of those little 2 wheel drive ones that was so stock it didn't have radio, ac, power steering, or a passenger side mirror. It was a great little pickup though, even when I got it in 94.

Mine didn't either. I ended up replacing it after having a bit of an incident with ice and a heavy duty wood fence.
