I was trying to find a way to transport my pups, and keep the inside of my brand new taco clean without blowing the bank on a store bought set-up. I thought someone else might benefit, so here's what I came up with and what you need:

1 strap or ratchet strap (you own a truck, it's free, you have tons of these)
1 screw down chain link ($2.98 at Lowe's)
1 two-dog leash coupler ($14.99 at Petco), although I'm sure if you want to take the time to sew a clasp on to a strap, it would be cheaper.

It works out pretty well. I had two very happy puppies yesterday. And 300 lbs of dog fit in the 5" foot bed with the tonneau folded back just fine. (The extra knot in the strap isn't necessary. I just couldn't undo it after my husband tied it years ago.)

    I hope this helps someone.

Just FYI, the pups tend to slide around a little bit in the bed on mountain roads, so I added a 3x4' horse stall pad from Tractor Supply. Worked great!

Thanks. My dog has been in the back before and the Toyota bed mat keeps her planted pretty good

Having your dogs in the bed of your truck uncrated (in a crash tested crate) is extremely irresponsible of you and to be quite honest you’re an asshole.

If someone hits you your dogs are dead, if you hit someone your dogs are dead. If you take a turn to fast and one falls out your dog is dead.
