Last week I gleefully drove a zillion miles to a ragged military base I have never before heard of to get the excellent condition M1102 trailer I won in an IronPlanet bid. After eventually getting my pass to get onto the base, I eventually found my way to the storage yard where all the surplused equipment is located. We find the trailer, back up to it, connect it to the pintle hitch, and off we go. About half an hour later I am scrutinizing the trailer in the mirrors. The back end is really up in the air. When I got home, I measured everything and realized that the M1102 hitch sits at 29.5" when it is level, while my hitch is at 19.5" level. I am wondering how to get the two hitches to meet without doing anything drastic to either truck or trailer. Any good suggestions are most welcome. Thank you

Heck I have lift and just measured and 29.5 inches goes almost to the bottom of my tailgate! That is a big difference. Can't wait to see solutions to this.

    OPTIONS:
    Smaller wheels/tires on the trailer.
Bigger wheels and tires on the truck.
    Live with it.
    Buy smaller trailer.

The trailer was designed to be pulled by larger vehicles. To drop 10 inches you're cutting a lot of sheet metal, spring under with lowering blocks, will have no ground clearance and a trailer that can't carry it's own weight safely.

It's the wrong trailer for your truck.

    An m101 is about 20-21 inches .

SOS Concepts high clearance bumper has the hitch hidden behind the license plate. Probably a good 8" higher than the factory location. That would probably solve the problem for you. Don't know if that's considered drastic or not

All good suggestions and observations, thank you.
On the surface, it is accurate to say this is the wrong trailer for this truck. Tough lesson to learn, but it is not insurmountable. The M1102 is an aluminum unibody go-anywhere trailer. Fantastic. Better than anything I can get on the civilian market and better than most of the other military trailers (one of which I have and it it fits perfectly with my truck).
The challenge with just raising the pintle hitch height to the max on the extender is that opening the tailgate will smash it down on the hitch and ruin the tail gate. Right where the backup camera is located, too.
Jacking up the truck will mess up the good height it has for towing other trailers we already use.
I think a likely solution is bolting on smaller wheels and tires, which will lower the trailer about four inches. Then have a new lunette and drawbar fabricated with a more dramatic dogleg than is on the current drawbar, so that it drops another 4". At that point, raising the pintle hitch height three inches no longer puts it in contact with the open tailgate.
A lot of work for one trailer. Then again, this trailer is worth it. And the price I paid ($800 plus fees) means I could easily invest a few hundred bucks more on tweaks and still come out way ahead.

Thank you. Also there are some Chevy 8-bolt wheels that will work, too. Today I started searching around for them. Should not be too difficult to find. I will report back
