    That Islander is probably my all time favorite reel. I have bought and sold a'lot of reels but that one is a keeper.

    Barbless hooks are required here now. I don't mind using barbless, but the fish do come off easier.

    whats a good fly for steel head? I may try my other fly rod out...as my new one doesnt have line/backing yet.

    Ive only been once, going to try tomorrow...see what happens. I dont know if I'll take my old fly rod or not. I can always leave it in the truck if I need to...I guess;) Its not a bad walk to where we are going. We can only keep 28" and under...the first one I caught was 31":( fun but couldnt keep it.

    Not from upstate NY, but steel is my fav target species

    Most Pin in my neck of the woods but the utmost fulfilling ride is to hook um on a swung fly, so sad that this endangered Thompson summer run is almost gone
