    Need tire advice please.

1996 2wd ext cab Milwaukee, WI

Door sticker says factory original was 215/70/14

Currently has 17 inch rims with lower profile Michelin Energysavers. Rides like garbage on our pothole infested streets. Have Blizzaks on separate rims for the little winter driving I do. Mainly concerned about ride quality. Prefer softer ride, not interested in 1G cornering. 14s are proving very hard to find nowadays. Maybe I need to go to 15s.

If anyone has advice or a link on best price, I’d appreciate it. Cheers

Alot of the newer tacomas came with 15” rims so im sure you can find a set for cheap. I ran both 16 and 17” rims on my truck and both rode really nice. My 17 were 235x65x17 which was the same overall all size as my oem 16” rims and both rode nice.

So I recommend ditching the 14s and get 15s, you can find them easily and there are alot of good options for them to have a nicer ride

Thanks for the advice. I swapped the 225/70/15s from my Ranger and even with Uniroyal Laredo’s it improved the ride substantially. For the potholes, I guess the bigger the sidewall the better. I’m thinking I’ll leave the tire pressures a bit lower here in the city and raise them back to normal when I need to take trips outa town. My daughter already complained that the Ranger now rides like crap. Cheers
