Find a good middle ground? Get one mod, then the next few months make extra on the payment?

Only do mods you can reverse easily if you decide to sell truck or trade in or if employment status changes or something like that forces your hand until paid off then go nuts with the harder to reverse/permanent ones. Also from an existing warranty standpoint, do mods that they cannot void warranty for first while still paying on it. Those would be my angles on this............I voted "both"

Get the minimum mods to make you happy in the short term, then throw the rest at your note.

Paying off a truck early with as little intrest paid is the best mod to your personal financial well being.
Buying new parts that are not broke or wore out does not make financial sense. I have done it, I had a lot of fun. But that money is gone forever.
I have paid off vehicles and they make me feel better than a lift. Buy some armor to protect your investment and learn to drive it as well as you can. And pay it off as fast as you can. Calculate the amount of intrest you save in doing so.
That saved intrest is discretionary mod or you may want a house or reduce other liabilities after you get that feeling of gaining wealth vs losing it.

I think the answer depends on your interest rate. I would suggest making extra payments if you have a higher interest rate. More mods in the long term.

Pay a little extra each month (my payments are around $250 a month... I add in an extra $100, but even an extra $50 would likely knock months off the term of my loan). Set up a savings account (or even just have an envelope) to dump cash into. plan ahead for your next mods (I have a google spreadsheet) and set up a hierarchy of what you want next.

Also... when you're done paying off your loan, keep putting that exact payment amount in a future car savings account. You've trained yourself during the loan to live on the remainder... keep living on that and save for the next one.

Do a little of both but only pay cash for mods. No sense in financing the truck and the mods.
