I think the Pens had the most Americans on their teams the last 2 Cup years (either that or NCAA players). Tis year they did not, as some have moved on. Not saying that is why they won the Cup before and didn't this year, but just something that I thought was talked about around here.

So Tom Wilson complaining about a high, dirty hit. Hmm, that is a bit ironic isn't it? F that guy. I mean, the hit was high, Strahlman left his skates. But it was that weird scenario where Wilson knew he was there and turned his back. It makes it so hard to judge those scenarios. In the end, you don't like seeing guys get hit high. But we had to listen to him and his teammates babble on when Reese got blasted with a broken jaw, and now he is worried about player safety lol. Joke.

Good game last night though. Tampa looked better. Still I think their PP, getting those 2 goals, is what let them get control of the game. 5 on 5, they still aren't as impressive as I thought they would be. That is credit to the Caps. The post-game panel was making it out like they were lazy, which is why they lost. I disagree. I think going down 2-0 from the PPGs just made them dial it down. But Caps for sure play better when they are being aggressive and in your face. Will be an interesting dynamic as the series goes on.

 

Bad loss in IIHF yest. Hopefully they get back on track against Czech. Aside from the Finland loss, we have been rolling.

No GM in the league would choose to expose a 23yr old, 2-time Cup winning goalie at 3.5mil/yr.


That being said, pretty amazing what Vegas has been able to do so far. I gave up trying to figure it out. Perfect storm of great coaching and players who are performing the system. It's impressive.
