    House members voted 104 to 0 to allow South Carolinians with concealed weapons permits to stow their guns under their vehicle seats. That's in addition to the other places already allowed by law: a vehicle trunk and glove compartment.

    We'll find out. Tigerfan00 will chime in I'm sure.

    You can't use it if you need it if it's locked up.

    Sure;
    If I don't have a trunk and I want to keep my pistol under the seat in my locked vehicle.

    If I'm giving someone a ride that I am not comfortable having access to or knowing about the pistol.

    Because it's America and restricting personal rights is un American.

    Speaking from the point of view of someone who was almost car-jacked once, I firmly believe that every "responsible" adult should have the right to carry a weapon for the protection of their life, family, and property. I work hard to buy that truck, and I'll be damned if some two-bit punk is gonna take it from me. And let me tell you from experience, once the would-be car-jacker got a look down the barrel of my Glock 27, the first words out of his mouth were "I'm sorry" as he tripped over himself to get away.
    Now as for making it safe to keep a loaded firearm in a vehicle, that's why I installed a Console Vault. I highly recommend it for storing your gps, radio head unit, satellite radio, and (most importantly) your gun if you plan on keeping one in the truck. Keeps your valuables safe in parking lots, compliant with the law, and still readily accessible in an emergency.

    Concealed carry and concealing a gun are two different things. :)

    ok...im not going to chime in with my personal opinion on the subject just yet because it needs a LOT of clarification...along with a successful 2/3 majority vote by the SC Senate

    BUT

    heres another article about it
    http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=87696&catid=2
    both stories imply that you must have a concealed carry permit to legally carry a loaded handgun in the glovebox or closed compartment (i.e. center console) of a vehicle but this is incorrect

    per current SC law:
    if you read the bolded part, there is a DIRECT exception to the unlawful (without permit) carrying of a handgun that involves inside of a motor vehicle.

    before i can "choose sides" so to speak, the media, or lawmakers rather, need to clarify whether or not carrying underneath a vehicle's seat would only allow permit holders to do so or anyone legally allowed to own a firearm.
