God there's even this app called SpotHero you can use to reserve PARKING SPACES.

After trying to find parking in downtown San Francisco and Oakland, I can see why that's a thing.

We had something similar in West Virginia. Leave your gas cap unlocked, and someone would come over and syphon it out. What do you call a six foot piece of garden hose? A West Virginia credit card.

Gas prices are weird here, two months ago Regular was low $3.00, I think it even hit $2. Now it's nearing $5 in the metro areas.

To clear things up, the reason the bulb you have in there works without a resistor is because it's a CANBUS style bulb (says CANBUS right on it). Those, for all intents and purposes, work like a regular LED with a resistor in our trucks. Any non-CANBUS LED without a resistor will have this weak flicker issue when the circuit is not hot on later 1st gens. CANBUS LEDs will not.

It was what I was looking for primarily, I just thought the AEM did the adjustment side of it neater and the included tank was bigger and better designed. The AEM all said and done was $200 cheaper with a discount I had too.

Oh we have one of those here in Northern California. We call it Stockton.

My friend has a 2001 Double Cab and lived in an apt. complex in Stockton. He told me he had his Catalytic Converter stolen three times while he lived there.

Even with a CANBUS bulb, mine would not operate correctly. Only when I added the resistor did they have all functions. May have just been the particular bulb that I ordered, but they were supposed to be CANBUS, but.... who knows for sure with Amazon sellers.

That's what I like about 1995-2000 trucks. Locking gas caps - which even 3rd gens don't have. You know what else 3rd gens don't have? A freakin' gas cap holder... someone on the 3rd gen forum sells these 3D printed gas cap clips for the door.

as long as nothing was 'added' to the gas. One thing I miss from my 98 taco was the locking gas cap door. At some point I'll find the time to track down one and swap it.

EDIT: Guess I am not the only one who misses the locking door from the 95-00

Really? I guess there could more quirks with the resistance that could cause a problem. Haven't heard of CANBUS bulbs not working before. Either it's not actually CANBUS-compliant or these 1st gens are just luck of the draw with some things.

At one point, I'd like to integrate the central locking system to the gas door and even the tailgate. It's a nice feature some cars have. My 2000 E320 gas door is connected to the central locking system, and I think the Ridgeline?'s tailgate is also controlled by an electronic actuator.

You could just do a lever release. My cruiser has a pull next to the hood pull that pops the gas door open. No other way to open it unless you use a crowbar

Most (maybe all) modern filler necks won't allow a hose to be inserted and gas syphoned out.

My '06 Civic is like that. There's one lever on the floor - you push it to open the gas door, and pull it to open the trunk.

Honestly, i think you're just going to have to be completely and totally thorough and honest with any potential buyer with that truck...given its history and everything you've had to do to restore it. But once you find the right buyer, I'm sure you can get what you want for it. The oil sample analysis alone is proof that it's what's inside that really counts, lol. Seriously though, that's pretty amazing that the test came back so positive.

I'm a little afraid of getting mine tested because of how lean my truck was running when the PO had it (enough to toast the cats at 50k miles). Although it would be good to know for sure what it's overall health looks like. The 5VZE is a tough little motor that's for sure.

One nice thing about Amazon, you can go back through all your orders, here is the bulb that I used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014P06YSM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just prior to that was an order for some cheaper non-CANBUS ones that were returned, and some days after the order of the CANBUS ones, was the order for the resistors. If memory serves, it was the dimming feature when you lock and unlock that required the resistor.

Fucking Dakars...the dreaded squeaking/creaking is real. Never had this issue with my stock leafs and 3 leaf AALs, but these Dakars are barely a month old and sound like a 100 year old rocking chair when I drive.

I've found that hitting them up close with the hose on 'stream' setting between the leaves gets rid of the squeak for a couple days but it comes right back. Anyone with 1st gen OME dakars figure out a long term solution to this? Driving me nuts.

I know they have greasable shackles available but I don't think it's coming from the shackles, given how it goes away for a short while when I blast between the leaves with high powered water
