Replaced my 580 cca stocker 4 days ago at 2 years and 3 months at under 19k miles. SamsClub 24F 725 cca $80 special. Will hold me until I can move up to a big boy tray and battery. Probably will go to a 2nd gen tray and 27F battery with 1000 cca. So who makes the "lowest bidder" Tacoma batteries. Probably a YING-WANG or similar. Same low bidder that made our speakers. Didn't bother looking since I did it in between rain storms.
My first instinct was to drive to the dealer. Then I thought what they would do. Tell me my maintenance was not done on time, pro-rate the battery, charge me $80 for the pro-rate, then only warranty the new one to the end of the original 3 year replacement term. No thank you Toyota.

Lol. My Taco has 42,000 on her and its two years old. My father has an '09 Taco that made it 6 years on the factory battery. I feel that they've found cheaper suppliers to keep up with demand and we have to pay for it.

My co-worker just replaced the original battery in his Tacoma. His 2004 Tacoma. My Dad got 10 years off his original Nissan Frontier battery, then put it in his newer used Nissan truck, and got 3 more years out of it.

Yeah, most likely an AliExpress special. Lol

The rain has been hell here in central Virginia. The roads are starting to look like the south's dirt roads, the way they are washing out.

    Truck weekend.

Should I run either a constant in from my fuse panel to my cig lighter or should I wire it to the switchpro so I can have constant based on a switch.

    Today
Rewired homelink mirror and took constant wire off to switched.
Tucked away the wire to the scangauge up by the mirror.
Halfway through ripping apart all of my dash to access everything
    Yellow fogs
Touched up paint on my sliders.

    Tomorrow
Figure out constant power in cab
    Install Meso etc button
    Finish wiring front cam
Possibly run wire to bed for blue sea

SR8’s took a beating, so I brought out my spare set to get them cleaned up.

I am almost always of the camp to buy the more expensive locally made item, especially when it comes to my woodworking hand tools. 99% of the time when I buy something that will get used for a specific purpose I try to source a USA made product and pay the premium to do so. But I will admit, I couldn't justify the price of a plastic grill costing $400-$500. If it wasn't for the cheap Chinese knock-off I would never have owned the TRD OEM pro grill and would continue to rock the chrome cheese grater grill that comes on my TRD Sport. The issue with paying $400+ for the TRD OEM Pro grill is that this is no doubt manufactured in China as well and serves no other purpose than to be aesthetically pleasing. If it served a purpose other than to look good I would really question my decision to buy a Chinese knock-off and save my money. Luckily it is just something that looks dope AF!

The OE pro grills are actually made in the US. My point is the plastic is the same, like our cheap ass plastic is any better than China? I bought the Chinese grill $130 like most others.

Lots of different types of plastics out there, styrene, abs, delrin as well as others and they are not all the same durability wise. I guess I would want to know if those made in the USA are made of the same type of plastic as those made in China before saying they are the same. They probably are and both are probably made of styrene, a cheaper more brittle type of plastic. Something I would have to find out more about before saying they were of the same quality. You're probably right but I just don't know if they are for sure. Just some food for thought.

What I did to my Taco....put sand in between the treads. The Boss wanted to go eat dinner by the beach last night. I just do as I’m told when it comes to the Boss...she’s a good Boss though. ; )

I did do the OVtune.....first the 87 octane tune, which is an improvement over stock, and then re-flashed to the 91 tune. Definetly makes it faster.....supposeably 20-22HP gain, I believe it. I will go back to the 87 tune just because I don’t want to pay the 30 cents per gallon delta and the 87 tune is a improvement over stock. Because it is easy to re-flash, takes about 20 minutes total.....if I ever get the need for speed, etc., I’ll just flash the ECU to the 91 tune and fill up on 91 octane.

Next up, bought 80mil sound deadening mat.
    More mods, fun.
