Watched some 4wd videos online and was wondering if anyone has driven the Steele Pass Road between Saline Valley to Eureka Road more recently in 2018? Did Dedeckra Canyon require much armor, if any at all, besides sliders on a stock OR? I’m still running an OEM pie tin under my OR. I’m raised just a bit and have KO2’s, but am loaded down for a week of camping. Thanks!

P.S., how is the Lippencott Mine road looking heading back west into Saline Valley? Thanks again!

Went thru 2 weeks ago, definitely used sliders but dont think i hit anything else. I am lifted but think you would be fine stock with sliders, the first ledge going down is really the only hard one. Lippencott was easy, any 4wd would be fine.

Thanks, doing Steele Pass at the end of the month. Prerunners, 2wd LT, no armor. We've been thru there before years ago...All good. That's only a part of our 211 off road miles that day.

Well, thanks @4x4offroadMT and @Y2kbaja for your input. We ended up bagging camping out at Eureka dunes the day before we were going to drive out through Steele Pass due to a horrid late afternoon dust storm in Eureka Valley and the dune area. Instead, we found shelter from the winds up in the Inyo National Forest off of Saline Valley Road.

I have a set of new Mobtown skids arriving on Saturday, and plan on going back to DV and driving Steele Pass in a few weeks with the new skids on, too. Looking forward to seeing your posts about your trip through the area also @Y2kbaja!

7 long travel trucks in our group, 1 of them 2wd. The 2wd had to be pulled up the 4 shelves in Steele Pass. A better driver may have made 2 of the 4 in his truck. 4 of the 7 trucks suffered damage going thru there. None of us will be back because the 20 miles of rocks after the shelves suck ass and are not fun. The silt beds on the south of the dunes were getting deep.

How did you damage LT trucks going through there? I've seen stock trucks go through without even rubbing.

Agreed the road on the way to the hot springs sucks for sure.

Trucks too wide? Was it Dedeckra Cyn that gave much of the issue? Thanks for heads up!

I did the road from the hots springs in saline valley to eureka sandunes on my LB pre-runner on 32s KOs. I would not do it in the opposite direction because I know I would not make it up the steps. Other wise that road is very fun to drive and the views are spectacular. The only damage to my truck was caused by steele pass where I almost ripped off my towing electrical plug in the back of the bed. Some of the steps were really tight but not too much with a spotter helping out. The drives in DV are looooong.
