My good friend just got married and his “wife” and his kid are not into killing things. He was, but not anymore.

So, he just gifted me 15 game mounts, a few 12ga shotguns, a Hoyt carbon bow and a cheap cross bow. He has 25 more mounts in storage and some other stuff, poor guy, lucky me.

I’ll keep all the guns (we’ll transfer FFL) and a most of these mounts. Perhaps I’ll sell a few, how much do these mounts sell for?

Those are nice mounts. I don't hunt but still find myself attracted to mounts and skulls

Really I don’t want to sell them but I know he paid a shit ton to hunt them and send them to taxidermy.

Actually, he has a ranch in TX, so many of these he didn’t hunt, he just killed them from the front seat of a pickup truck.

I'd look on eBay to see what the going price is for that type of critter. I do know that usually you will not get but maybe half of the cost of taxidermy out of them unless you have a very sought after critter. And the condition of the mount will have a huge difference in values.

different prices...it would be good to have the kill tag etc or you are going to have a hard time selling. Mostly its to prevent poaching etc. average deer is about $400-450 to give you an idea...the rest go up in price from there for exotics and larger animals..

And that sucks your friend is getting out of hunting...

if theres a bighorn sheep I'd really suggest getting the original tag for that, because they are protected species IIRC. at least here in Idaho its a "lotto" tag,
