Nice. Not entirely sure but I think most swing out tubes are 3/16, 1/4 inch may be over kill which isn’t a bad thing.

You could use trailer spindles but if that’s the case tmr customs has a lot of items and they are in Ontario (free shipping over a certain amount). May want to check them out.

    Small bits on progress

    • Lock tumblers off cap are being rekeyed so I can use them.
    • BPF magnetic underhood tray got clear siliconed. Stock came with some weak tape to hold it in place

    20180502_192113.jpg
    • Took the rear decals off and used the remaining wheel
    2018-05-02_19.41.42.jpg
This weekend: oil change, tire rotation, underhood led lighting, washing the inside of the cap, sourcing metal, latches and hinge parts. Figuring out what insulation and carpet to use for the inside, where my bed lighting switches will go, what other accessories I'll need for the back etc etc.... This summer is going to be awesome for mods

Hey OP could you do me a massive favour? Please measure the overall height of your new cap from the bottom edge of the door to the top tip of the aluminum rack

I'm going the same route and buying the same style contractor cap but I'm worried of the hieght, with the combined height of the truck suspension plus cap it might not fit through my garage door.

    Thanks!

Oh yeah I forgot to say great job so far!

bfeth thanks for taking the time to measure and post the pics. So with the height of my suspension and tires I only have 48inches of clearance and that aluminum rack would top out on my garage enterance. So for my case if there was no aluminum roof rack then I might have room to clear the enterance.

So glad I asked and I'm sorry to hyjack your thread! Keep up the good work.

Truck updates - caliraised bed stiffeners arrived few days ago, installed them before the sunset. Ready to load the cap up

    Beer for scale

    20180518_191012.jpg

    20180518_203915.jpg

    Locks re-keyed now entirely lockable
    20180505_163210.jpg

Cap has a the fire extinguisher mount in place as well as the mandatory bottle opener

Ideas are swirling on the tire carrier. Just need to find some steel and some time. Ordered the latch

Ordered in new headlights (going to attempt BHLM), centerline driveshaft bearing (getting the vibrations back) two switches for the console, plus two blanks (rear cam on/off, reverse aux) and the rear anytime camera harness.

    So much money spent....
Thinking about pulling the trigger on my lift but don't know if I should be getting UCAs at the same time, if so it will cost me.

Got some advice from the locals @MoonKnight went down an atv trail with a pretty decent slope, came to a clearing by a river and set up there.

New Maryland, NB - Trail run

Did some trial by fire to see what other improvements I'd need to focus on ride-wise. Met up with two jeeps one lifted and one stock. Overall gained the nickname 'White Elephant' .. I'll take it, did better than the stock jeep

The swing out door is growing on me, survived the trail with one clamp that loosened up.

Still I've got to figure out bed lighting, usb plugs, camp lights, reflective insulation and what not so I'm still on my way

Yeah. I bought the bracket from pelfrey bilt. I have any extra one (they send two as there are two types of cameras used on the tacos). May get lucky and the second will fit.

Tonight I'll send you a photo of my cam, if it works I'll buy it off you ahha.

Trying to figure out now if I can extend my rear cam wiring harness with a simple splice or if I'll run into resistance issues
