Good luck with that pneumatic hammer. I tried one. The rivets laughed at it.

The ones I sell require a 1/2" chuck, but they are sharp, short for manuevering, long-lasting and inexpensive. I don't make money on them

You shouldn't need a drill bit that big, but they do make 1/2" bits with 3/8" shanks that will fit most drills. Like @Redmann mentioned above, once you get enough of the rivet drilled out (even a "C" shape would work), it should pop out easily with a few good whacks with a hammer and punch. A pneumatic hammer/chisel makes it a lot easier. I was able to get most of my rivets out with an air chisel, but there were a few that needed to be drilled out. I also used penetrating oil on the rivets to help out. Afterwards, there may have been much cursing and flipping of birds on those rivets :anonymous:

Done a few bump stop and hanger installs, easiest I've found with basic tooling is flap disc disc to remove head, center punch as dead center as you can. HSS drill bit for the pilot then a decent quality step bit to remove as much material as possible without removing any of the frame. Punch out remainder

So glad it came out great, I think you are the 1st or 2nd to put these on a 5 lug. Took a couple years for that to happen but really happy its such a good combo.

    This is awesome to hear:

"The ride is honestly amazing...In my opinion, this shackle flip just made a world of difference and gave me the ride height I wanted!"

Air hammers with a chisel tip make life much easier. Just gotta cut the head off one side, then hit the back side of the stud, alternating from one side to the other to loosen it up, then hit it with the center punch tip and it comes right out.

Amazing quality on the hangars too, really impressed with how well these are put together @ARCHIVE. Pretty straight forward install. I'll have more info on how everything works after I get my new OME bushings.

Finally finished the install. Already feeling better about the ride quality in the back. Got thing to mention is the bolts that came with this kit dont fit the bushing sleeves that came with the OME bushing kit I bought.

Also @ARCHIVE, the angle on the rear shackle is only 15 degrees in the most forward postition. Did I miss something?

You went with 4.75" shackles, the angles in the chart on my site and instructions are with 4" shackles. On the chart it says 4.75" shackles will be about 10deg more vertical than 4", so 15deg is what Dakars and foremost position with 4.75" yields.

Yes the 9/16" bolts I supply dont fit in Dakar bushing sleeves, only spring like this. Toyota spring bushings are .580" ID, and OME must make theirs .550". I have not found an M14 bolt the proper length I can supply.

So the bolts that are used for the front diff mount are about right, probably a little too long but that's what I'm going to use.

    Hi all,

I am in the middle of this install but wanted to provide a few tips for getting the rivets out:

-Drill a hole through the middle of the rivet (all the way through, helps with punching them out...I used a 1/4'' bit)

-Cut rivet head off, remove old hanger

-Cut rivets flush with the frame

-take a 1/4'' pin punch and hammer the rivets through with a 3lb mini sledge.

    Tools:
-Dremel (Tundra hangers are oddly shaped and a smaller cutting tool is needed for some of the rivets
    -4 1/2 cutting wheel
    -Center Punch for centering holes
-Pin punch set for hammering rivets through once they are drilled and cut ( )
    -3lb mini sledge or similar
    -1/4 drill bit
-cordless drill worked fine for me
-Step drill bit for enlarging holes to 1/2'' (GET THIS! it is so much easier that using a 1/2'' bit to do the same. Takes seconds vs. minutes to drill to 1/2'').
    -Jack stands n' such

Took me about 2 hours for the first side (I broke a drillbit in one of the rivets!), but once I got the method down, the other side was done in 30 minutes.

I also sanded the frame down and coated in POR-15 (I have a 2000 Tundra). This area of the frame was the most corroded part of my truck!

    Cheers.

So there's been an update to the Deaver mid travel SUA springs, part numbers U539/540 (HD) and U644/645 (Light).

These springs have been lengthened by 1" at the rear, so newer versions measure 29.5" from center pin to rear eye. (old version are 28.5"/28.5")

This spring update makes the Archive shackle flip more practical than ever for these SUA springs. Why so?

When going for max travel, it should no longer be necessary to move brackets forward an extra inch and drill 4 new holes. Now the "foremost position" using 3 of 4 original rivet holes should be just right. The foremost position does require 1 extra upper rear hole be drilled (due to bumper mount clearance).

For the updated SUA springs, these are my recommendations:

    Double Cab
U539/540 with 4.75" shackles and brackets in foremost position

    Access Cab or Reg Cab
U644/645 with 4.75" shackles and brackets in foremost position

Please see pic or attached pdf for explanation of bracket positions, and stay tuned for further updates as more information comes in from customers

Lead times are 8 weeks, is that pretty straight forward as in, within 8 weeks of ordering the product should ship? Or you’re building another batch that will be done in 8 weeks or something else.

I’m VERY keen on your specific shackle flip and 4” lift shackle. My buddy Mark has this setup & we have basically identical rear end setups so I’m pretty sold on the performance offroad of this particular shackle flip. Mark and I both have OME Dakar standard duty packs, extended brake lines, superbumps & b110 rear shocks. (I’m switching from 5125’s to b110 once I get a flip kit).

My intentions are to replace my factory shackles with a much more solid product that increases travel and improves the ride. I will never have more armor than a wraparound steel bumper in the rear and my camping setup consists of a couple of totes strapped down in the bed. I will not ever have a bed rack and RTT or other heavy setup so I’m pretty sure this particular shackle flip will check ALL of my boxes. Seeing Marks truck flex in person with your shackle flip and the humble b110 shocks is just amazing and it sold me on mimicking the setup.

Anything else I should consider here? Gaining up to ABOUT 1 additional inch of lift would be great for me, I’m cutrently around 2.7” rear lift with my leaf pack and no additional weight.

Seems I’ve got it all figured out. Photo cred to @mventure._ and my black truck for reference (not maxed out in the pic)

    Hi Eric,
Here's another one of those "does it work" questions.

    Here's my set up:
Icon stage 6 shocks w/ resi (model # 57805CP, 14.22" collapsed x 24.35” extended) which is standard length and at stock shock mount
    Deaver U402
    U-bolt flip kit
    Timbren bump stops.

Saw several comments on the shackle flip threat mentioned that at 24” extended shock (max drop) might be too short for the shackle flip kit. Didn’t see anyone with my current set up and wanted to double check with you that this indeed is too short for the kit. I’m looking to increase ride height 1/2 to 1” on the back and get some more drop. The topper/bed slide/armor/roof rack have weighted down the taco. 90% on pavement, some dirt roads on the weekends. Let me know what you think.
    Than you for your time.

The perfect solution for you is my Hammer hangers. You might get .25" lift from HH, otherwise get lift another way, extra leaf or a zero rate leaf/1" block. Your Icons are limiting droop with HH by a few inches.
