Yeah luckily I cut it before . I had a different stealth bumper that wasn’t built as well so this install was pretty easy.

    Hey nice install vid..
question...I plan on stuffing a 17" rim with a ko2 275/70/17 under the bed in the spare spot.
I understand that the exhaust potentially will be in the way and have to be moved / re routed. I planned on grabbing a muffler and having a shop bend some stainless. Im wondering if this kit allows room for an oversize spare?

The struts serve the same purpose as a floor jack - used to lift something. Then you use jack stands to actually hold that something up.
The hoods on the Gen 3 are relatively heavy and the struts actually do the lifting. Once the hood is up then the hood prop can be used if desired.
I'm not especially lazy (debatable) but if I can find a more efficient way to do something (read - less effort) then I'm all for that.
The nice thing about all of these mods is if someone doesn't like them or thinks they are silly, stupid, a waste of money, whatever, they don't have to do them.
I think the only MANDATORY mods are the MESO Custom mods.

    Good question.

This particular piping is 3 inches so it actually seems to get a little closer to the spare tire so adding a larger spare would make that gap even tighter.

They do make with with a turn down but it's going to be louder due to having a shorter pipe and also pointing downward https://amzn.to/2KJqlOy but it will not interfere with the spare.

You can also cut off the pipe that it comes with and just tilt over the axle and forego the side exit.

Hmm, a hood mounted flat nylon webbing hand loop. Sounds like a mod in the making! :jerkoff:

And as luck would have it I happen to have some left over from making my own web gear.
Some webbing (cut with a heated putty knife) in the form of a loop a stainless fender washer and a sheet metal screw. Hmmm.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!

I was just thinking... I grew up in the 60s and 70s, and as far back as I can remember car hoods have always had an "assist" (in the form of springs). You think the Gen3 hood is heavy... Pfft. I couldn't imagine opening the hood of my 1970 Pontiac Catalina 400 without some assistance. A better question would be "When did we start doing without the assist?". I'm not sure. I've mostly owned imports since high school and they were always "manual" (no springs, no struts, just hinges and hood prop). [shrug]

Sure, I joke about reaching the hood, but truth-be-told, I picked up a folding step-stool last time I was at the hardware store (and I'm 6'0"). I want to get the CAI airbox mod done this weekend and it looked like a little extra height wouldn't be a bad idea.

Most dispensable moneys goes to home renos, so no major mods.
AVS in channel visors (hoped they would help with the trumpet noise on the passenger window, no)
    COAL TACO 4 (1 of 1).jpg
And axle dumped the tailpipe. Looks 100% better and no threat.
    TACO SLIDE 2 (1 of 1).jpg
And added some brown mud dip to the tacoma emblem.
    TACO MUD (1 of 1).jpg

And 4 additional cross bars to fill the gaps and add some strength to the Prinsu rack.

LOTS more pics of this adventure here if interested..

Any plans on rigid mounts? Love to hear your ideas if you do.
I'm partial to the look of the steel GI type cans but the plastic are virtually indestructible and in most cases just make more sense. No dents, no rust, zero maintenance.

I made the mount in the quoted post for almost nothing. It's held together pretty well so far, including 2-3 trips off road and ~10,000 miles commuting.

Been through a lot of battery brands over the years. I typically don't see more than 3 years out of one, no matter who makes it. Daily driver cars, variety of models. AZ eats batteries like tic tacs.

Maybe i'm the minority here, but i prefer putting my money into our home...
Ill mod the truck one bit at a time. Plus it typically costs twice as much to mod these in Canada.
