is a 09 tacoma rear diff a 8" or a 8.4"?

    Okay. Thanks Ben. Well then, I am inclined to think as BlueT did and say that the toyota TRAC/VSC system and The Eaton Truetrac should not be used together. It could have unpredictable results when/if the systems conflict with each other.

    taco_man, if I were you I'd make a formal inquiry to Toyota and or Eaton to get your answer. No sense in fooling around.

    im going to call toyota today and see what they say. i just know that they are going to persuade me not to do it because it is not stock. they did the same thing when i was talking to them about putting my lift on. but i guess it wont hurt to ask.

    If you were adamant about truetrac and you were extremely thorough you could disable VSC using the VSC off switch each and every time you turned your ignition on. But this would be a burden and you would not benefit from VSC if you needed it.

    Why not go with a selectable locker? That way you would avoid the whole situation? :confused:

    haha turning off vsc doesnt bother me. i never use it. but i think it kicks back in when ever you hit a certain speed. im going to try the fuse thing, and if that doesnt work i will ask toyota to disable. i dont like vsc at all. it is pointless excepts it seems to lock up on me. my opinion is if i start sliding i want to keep sliding not get a huge jerk.

    It's not something you use. It's an amazing safety feature usually meant for highway driving.

    With the vehicle completely stopped press and hold the VSC off switch for 5 seconds to disable it. It will not turn on again until you cycle the ignition.

    It's in the owners manual.

    No disrespect to you... But I don't think you don't understand the value of VSC. It is designed to be a life saving piece of technology during the event of an emergency maneuver at speed. In the United States the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has stated that VSC systems are second only to safety belts in reducing traffic fatalities.

    It actually saved my life once last year and I felt compelled to learn about it.

    I stated earlier in this thread you should have your VSC recalibrated because of your lift... Go to the dealer for that. Also, Toyota gave us the ability to disable VSC because they know that VSC really has no place on the trail and yes it will intervene and may cause problems out on the dirt.

    If you pull your ABS fuse all traction systems (ABS/EBD/TRAC/VSC/Auto-LSD) will be rendered inoperable.

    Ah I had been driving now for almost 25 years, none of my cars ever had VSC, only in last few years I got cars with ABS. Amazingly I am still alive with 0 accidents. :)
    I wish there was option to purchase a car with out ABS and with out VSC. I think next time I am buying the car I will ask dealership to remove it and give me money back. Just ABS that's over $1000 that could be removed from the price. I would love to have that out.

    Tried with two, because in theory combination of two should make your truck better then e-locked :D so post your experiences please.

    This one I know but I was wondering what bearings he had to use for 2gen, they should be the same as old V6 diff but I would rather get the parts list...

    Sorry to bring up a long-dead thread. But I did several searches on Truetrac, Trutrac, and Tru-trac, and couldn't find anything that came any closer than this thread to what I was looking for. I figured maybe it was better to just resurrect this than to start a whole new newb thread.
    Did the OP ever do the TrueTrac install? Or did you just stick with factory electronic limited-slip?
