    Must be a Lariat?

I have always loved super duties, but there's no way I can justify one.

I always see the dealer around here advertising $29.95 for conventional.

She said they gave her high mileage. The interval is every 5000, and her Rav4 doesn't even have 40k yet.

Probably as in she can do more mileage, they did the same to mine. Now it's 10k and the only reason they want you in 5k miles is to check the oil and do a tire rotation

Go by the owners manual. Even if you put a better oil in there change it at 5K as out trucks were designed for. Putting a better quality fluids there will give you more protection for the time that you use it but it will still contaminate the oil at the same rate so change with fresh at the correct interval. Same goes for your girls Rav Jason @replica9000 . Check the interval and change as it needs.

Think like stock size tires. Put in PSI as described on the tag in door no matter the tire brand

Oh yea I still planned on it! Especially after towing season. I technically just got mine changed 2k miles early just for the convenience of it.

When I 1st bought my truck I had the dealer (mine did not come with free maintenance) change my oil @ 2.5K. At 5K I changed it myself with a full synthetic and have been running full syns ever since. I usually switch between Pennzoil Platinum or Mobil 1 just to have different detergents to help clean. It always amazes me how dirty my oil is after 5K though

This is technically not true. A better quality oil will have better additive packages which will break down slower than a cheap oil. The best way to determine oil change interval is to sample the oil and send it to a testing lab. If you dont want to spend that money, just keep changing it per the manual.

Nearing 200k on a solid diet of 100% recycled dinosaurs @5k changes and no issues except a leaky valve cover. I just figure it's active rust protection:notsure:.

Edit: I do typically use high mileage oil. Still just regular recycled dino though.

Your right but is the oil company or the testing lab going to warranty your engine if they say it was from too long of oil intervals? IDK. I don't send my oil out, I just follow the manufactures intervals - even though I'm out of warranty
And that's fine. That's all our trucks call for but when I buy and change the oil myself the difference in price for one of those 5 qt jugs is only like $5 - $8 for regular dino oil vs full synthetic and I know the full syns protect much better so it's full syn for me

That gets me thinking to what Jason said earlier. His girl paid $70 for a oil change which is close to normal for a full syn change at a shop buy why? Why is it $20 - $25 to change a cars oil if using regular oil but they charge $65 - $70 if you get synthetic? Especally like I said the difference for me to buy only 5qts is only around $5 and you know all these shops are buying the shit in bulk. It's the same job jusy a different oil

All they are doing is gouging people

Yeah the 5 quarts of Royal Purple and K&N filter I buy doesn't even cost me $70. The Rav4 only has a 4-banger, so it must use less oil.
