Did you try the ECT button? I think this is designed to help when towing or hauling heavy loads.

@Juggernaut27 dont be afraid to ask questions that’s the point of this place most the time. If it is struggling especially while towing just knock it down a gear and that will keep the revs up and make a huge difference

Despite what some on here will say, how to use part-time 4WD is NOT common sense.

Everybody had to be shown or told at some point, really the dealer should've gone over it with you when you got the truck. Unfortunately it seems a lot of salesmen don't know the vehicles they sell all that well, and may not understand it themselves.

That and your ECT button. Your truck may sound like an absolute dog going up and down hills, but thats where it gets the power. Let that tachometer hit 3500 ripems and fly!

Some people don't know that part in the manual that says to use your 4WD once a month -- or don't know where to find dirt or gravel that isn't private property.

    Some tips:

ask on a local forum or join a local group ride
    gravelmap.com
    https://jeeps.thefuntimesguide.com/forest-road-maps/

or just open up a map, find the name of the nearest state or national park or forest, search the main number, call and ask if there are public, unpaved roads

even in the big cities, you would be surprised how close you may be to a stretch of legal soft road

I for one didn't know about using 4WD monthly so will try and find some soft roads. Thanks

I've got one stretch by my work that's straight for at least a quarter mile. I try and run the 4x4 down it every couple of weeks.

The point of driving in 4wd monthly is to lubricate the 4wd mechanisms, right? So is there really that much more lubrication going on in only 2 miles instead of 10 as recommended?

I have a monthly reminder in my phone to drive in 4wd. There's a backroads route that is not paved that I'll go home when I need to.. but it's only a few miles. The recommended 10 miles just seems like a nice round number that got pulled out of thin air.

I'd say some is better than none, but they probably want everything to get hot.
