Thank you @fajitas21 for the great deal on the Bed Bars!

Also, a HUGE Thank you to @Overkill07 and Aron for bringing them up to me and for the amazing timing we had on meeting up, pretty sure I have never had that happen before where I and the other person arrive at the meeting place at the exact same time.

Going to get these mounted up on Tuesday and start getting the new setup worked up so I can see how I want to run things and if everything is going to work the way I want it to or not. Thinking Hilift up front, light pod tabs facing back and then putting my CB antenna on the drivers side tab and a dust light possibly on the passenger side down the road. I have a Rigid rock light I am going to mount on the one closest to the tail gate and use it as a bed light/camp light for cooking off the tail gate and such as well.

Then throw the cargo basket on top and remount the spare tire to it to clear up the bed once again.

    Shut up.

I wish I could show you the finished product... I was going to mount them yesterday on the truck when I was checking out @Zac of all trades new little camping trailer... but someone, I won't name names.... did not include all the mounting hardware for these... as I only have 7 t-slot nuts and 2 bolts with them... so I need to get some bolts for the T-slot nuts and one more spring nut.

New bed setup, aka, why All-Pro is All-Pro, and everyone shits on All-Pro, this is your tape...

So after a run to Lowe's to pick up some hardware for this project, I started to work on the new bed setup...

First step was working on the Hi-Lift portion and getting the threaded rod cut down to be able to go into the welded bungs on the bed bar... once that was done... it was then that I realized that yes, @allpro is one of the dumbest companies(1) out there when it comes to building stuff. I mean, yes, I already knew this from other people, but now I see it first hand... I bought the bed bars secondhand for $100 from @fajitas21 and he had never tried to mount a hi-lift on it but had paid the extra for the hi-lift mounts because why not, only $20. I don't blame him one bit for this, unless he is laughing at my demise in all this, in that case, I hope your next fajita is soggy and the meat is really tough...

Well, this is what $20 gets you... the most useless, dumbest, worthless hi-lift mounts for a pair of bed bars in the existence of bed bars.

How are you ever supposed to use these without having to build some form of drop down off these to then mount your hi-lift, which yes, could be done... but why?

You have a pair of Bed Bars, one bar has light tabs welded on, normally that would go towards the rear at the tailgate for a dustlight, camp light, antenna, etc.

Then you have the other bar that would go up front... so then tell me how in the actual hell are you supposed to be able to get to your hi-lift out without two people, if it is just yourself, you undo one side... then what? Have the other side just chill against the bottom of your RTT? Maybe you are supposed to crawl under your RTT and unbolt it? Have a 8ft wing span? Be elastic girl? Keep a Trunk Monkey? WHO KNOWS!?!

But wait? If you don't build some form of drop down for the mount... how does it even work? How can you even mount a Hi-Lift and use the bed bars to hold a RTT? Or like in my case a roof basket for the time being? Luckily my roof basket has giant holes in the bottom and the hi-lift somewhat fits in it like a jigsaw puzzle... YA PUZZLES! I built the outside first, because I am smart. At least I tell myself when I go to bed at night.

Wait, do I mount the Hi-lift upside down with the nose pointed down? But that still puts the handle and everything above the bar... still seems pretty damn useless.

But what about the other bar? What do you do with the light tabs? They then have to go up front now... I guess that would work as I can put an antenna on one side and maybe mount a light upside down with a really long bolt and a spacer or something so you can see it... maybe? Or it can be lonely on that side... or I can put another antenna and be like Iceman in Smokey and the Bandit and run dual CB antennas, but in reality, only have one hooked up because who has time to hook up two of those...

You would think that if someone bought a PAIR of bed bars... and asked for a hi-lift mount, that they would put one bung in each of the bed bars on the sides, so you can mount your hi-lift like a normal human being and not like a special snowflake who at the end of the day melts into the ground and becomes fucking useless, just like these hi-lift mounts on this bed bar are.

I can completely understand if someone asked for a SINGLE bed bar with Hi-Lift mount and Light Tabs, but this is not the case... I actually performed a head scratch at one point trying to figure out the reasoning for this, I have never done that before and it be memorable.

So now, I am going to turn these bed bars into something that is not useless like my magnifying/light attachment for my purple gameboy color that I used to play Grand Theft Auto on in the back of my moms Maroon mini van on roadtrips. How you say? By putting actual useful welded bungs onto the sides of the bed bars... so that I can mount the hi-lift on the sides, like it should have been done. Then guess what, I will then be able to run TWO HI-LIFTS!!! BECAUSE TWO IS MORE THAN ONE! BECAUSE I CAN!

Who knows, I may even add something to the other side of the bed bars, so that the other side feels useful and not left out like Mary back at Prom in '07, I'm sorry Mary, maybe a shovel and axe mount or something cool like a road shower? Who knows, the possibilities are endless*!

I will complete this project later this week at some point, I have to go back to Lowe's as I need a different kind of U-bolt to attach the basket to the bed bar, but until then. Just know, that someone out there has put Ketchup on Ice Cream and thought it was the best thing in the world.

*NO WAIT! A THIRD HI-LIFT! THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY

    (1) I feel like their may be dumber, but in my instance, this is pretty damn stupid....

Thats pretty stupid. You could probably use this to move the hilift to the side https://www.amazon.com/Hi-Lift-Jack...1527033395&sr=8-1&keywords=hi-lift+tube+mount

Pretty sure the mount is made to go bar to bar on the side, not be mounted to one bed bar.20151009_174330-M_1024x1024.jpg

Yes true... but for about.... <$5 I am just going to drill two 1/2" holes on the side of the bars and then weld a 1/2" nut on the outside of that hole and take the threaded rod that I already cut and thread that into that nut and boom... done. Well at least that is my plan at the moment, that may change when I head to Lowe's Friday afternoon.

I can then put a tack weld onto that threaded rod against the nut if I wanted and already was planning on trying to drill a hole through the rod to be able to put a lock through it...

So would still be less than $5 or so I think?

Correct, the one @SuperBad linked to is used to put them on the side... the way All-Pro welded the bungs into the one bar... just makes zero damn sense at all.

Yep. I am just going to build them right, and then will have the extra welded in bungs to do whatever I want with, can put some lights onto it or what now... a simple 1/2"x1" bolt plugs it, so if I don't use them for something, can just plug the holes up anyways.

Put eyelets in there and you can hang a water bag off one to wash dishes with and hang one of those 30 day camp lights off the other
