Hi Tacoma owners, I have water coming in through the back of my cab and I highly suspect the 3rd brake light.

The dealer I booked it in with couldn’t find the TSB, does anyone have it or have an experience with this getting it fixed?

Does it need any special parts, how long did it take? Taking into Fort Mcmurray so hope it doesn’t need special parts as it’s a pretty remote city lol

I assume limited has the LED brake light?

My leaked. Made appointment, they verified it leaked (car wash or hose?). They ordered parts, which is a new brake light assembly. The seal is bonded to the third brake light i believe.

Made second appointment once parts arrived to have it replaced. They have to get it from the inside and lower the head liner. Check your rear coat hooks once you get it back, the cover is hard to remove and I had one cover broken.

Turned out on mine, they forgot to remove the paper backing on the adhesive seal at the factory.

I put painters tape on the top seam of the brake light as a temporary fix until the part arrived.

I have a 2016 and washed it Tuesday and waxed it Wednesday. While rubbing on the top, the brake light was loose. I looked to tighten it but found no exterior screws. Looked inside, headliner wet all across top back window, seat back and seat wet, carpet wet. It rained Thursday so I took it in today to my dealer. Parts on order and I drop it off Monday to start interior rip out and pick up loaner. They say gonna take 5-7 days and may need mold treatment and testing. Will post outcome.

Took to dealer where I bought truck and have real good relationship with service manager. They replaced the light fixture and there is a new gasket. They replaced by headliner, back seat cover and the floor carpet. They did more than expected, even a loaner vehicle at no charge. Hope you get taken care of.

I’d find another dealer to check it out and compare reports. Work through Service Manager and hope you find a resolution.
