Just dropped my 2012 Baja V6 off at the dealer with both codes showing and in limp mode.

Hi Sharpish, I'm also in Canada. My 2012 4.0L Tacoma also has the same issue. I took it to the dealership this week and was quoted around $2,400. I have not received any letter in the mail. I called the dealership, they claim they know nothing about this issue or about Toyota fixing this.
I guess I'll have to wait for my letter to come in.

There's a picture of a letter two posts up ... print it off and bring it in. It will have all the pertinent information.

This is very new so maybe they haven't been updated.

I received my reimbursement check yesterday from having the pump and valves replaced in January 2016!

I left yesterday for a 7 hour trip to Disney before I come back home and leave for another 7 hour trip to my new home in TN. Got to Jacksonville, pulled off I-95 got back on the ramp and boom! Pulled over checked my codes, did some quick checking and thanks to here I hobbled 14 miles to the nearest open dealer on Sunday. $1400 in parts plus labor fully covered thanks to Toyota extended the warranty. Grabbed a rental to continue my trip! I didn’t even know we had this issue.

Took mine in to get fixed. Left the dealership fine. Next morning had a 2445 code (pump) and put me in limp mode. Great, dealer screwed something up. Cleared it so I could get to work. Next morning same thing. Checked over it after work today and the mechanic forgot to hook up the hose to the blower. Why cant they ever do anything right? At least its fixed. Im going to install the bypass kit so I never have to mess with it again.

I just took the lid off mine. The filter inside & the vanes look damn near brand new. It is the old style but IDK if it's ever been replaced as I bought it used. Should I remove the foam filter & install the clamp on breather ASAP?

2012 with 50k miles. Thankful for this thread. Took my truck into Toyota yesterday. I knew p2442 would display on the machine. It did. The Toyota rep told my what i already knew and quoted me 1500 to fix. I had to tell him about the extended warranty letter. He was unaware, so he said. Little disappointed that if I didn't mention the letter , I would have been handed a large bill.

Does anyone know if changing your air intake voids the warranty. When I first bought my truck, I put a K&N intake and Flowmaster exhaust. Last weekend my truck threw the p2442 code. I was able to work around it by unplugging my battery, but it happened again today. I have a scheduled trip to the local Toyota dealership for Wednesday. Want to know if I hadn't screwed myself by putting on the intake. I have 78k on my 2012.

Toyota of Kingsport blamed my K&N CAI for the pump/valve failure. I only had to pay $109.50 because I had purchased an extended warranty when I bought my truck, but Toyota reimbursed me for it.

Did they say why it was your Intakes fault. Especially considering that the valve and the pump at on the exhaust end of the spectrum.

They said the air pump was moved to the front of the engine bay and turned 180 degrees. They didn’t even want to acknowledge the air pump problems with the Tundra’s.

Thanks for posting! Really curious about failures on 2013+ models since they only TSB’d the 2012.

    Pump died but valves OK?

Do you know what killed the pump yet? Filter ingestion or something else?

took my 2012 in w/ 70k miles for the p2440, p2442 codes, couldn't accelerate for shit.
they called back after a couple hours and said it was the first time they'd seen a tacoma with the issue, but will have it fixed mid next week when parts come in.

I have a 2015 Pro, pump and valves were replaced under warranty in August of last year around 24k miles.

Last weekend, got hit with the codes again at 42k miles. Truck is currently at the dealer. They’re covering it because the parts are less than a year old. They did say we’ve seen Tacoma’s fail, but not twice, let alone in a year.

Got a 2018 Silverado as a loaner until it’s fixed. I do have to give my dealer a lot of credit. They’re 100% supportive when it comes to covering things, but man it’s disappointing to deal with these bullshit emission parts. Gets my brain thinking about buying a new truck so I don’t deal with another failure down the road, this time on my dime. Then I realize I have too much in it, I don’t want a new one - just gotta bite the bullet when it comes I guess.
