I too have been looking at this (I just haven't gotten the rest of my project off the ground) and started down this very path. I actually had @Hoangde build my cables loose without the switch. The problem I find is getting appropriate switches that fit in with the purpose/Tacoma. I have thought about double switching.... first to enable 'anytime' and second to determine which camera is selected. Another idea was to go to an ON/ON configuration to avoid that middling issue you have. Of course you have to avoid the plethora of (ON)/(ON) and ON/(ON) configurations. I know I have seen click select buttons like this, I just need to find one. I'm trying to avoid doing an arduino project to solve this simple concept. So many ways to do this....

Those might work for power control or signal control (limited to two) but not signal switching which is what is happening here. Also, $600 recommended solution for a $20 problem.

With a relay installed on the video inputs you could use a single DPDT switch (ON -OFF-ON) and still have reverse video operate as normal in the OFF position.

Cool - yes my cables were built without the switch also. For me in the end one switch to rule them all wins. :)

I am back. Was out to El Mirage for assignment.
Anyway, if you have Hai Cable Harness and Add-On cable. Now you have dpdt switch and wanted to combine "Anytime Camera" with dpdt switch then pm me. i will explain how to do it (the way @Tacomavkk wanted which R gear kick in Rear camera automatically regardless dpdt postion and able to control F/R camera manually).
You will needed additional parts you can get from eBay for a few dollar.
Again, I am not recommended or will build that kind the cable but I will explain via pm and parts as needed. Do it at your own risk and you need at least cut and splice a few wires.

This switch doesn't fit into the opening on the right side of a 2016+. Ask me how I know....

    It's too large.

I would like a HAI cable assy. and a Add-on cable Assy. Are those available for order?

    ALCON,
So many requested from members so I will roll back to my old design for Add-On cable. You are no longer required to have dpdt switch. All you have to get is a push switch as below from:
    ebay (searched for)
    Amazon (searched for)
    Aironboard
or any place as you wish.
So basically when the switch is UN-PRESSED, the rear camera is connected and selected.
When the switch is PRESSED, the front camera is power on and selected.

    upload_2018-5-19_23-11-18.jpg

For this old design Add-On cable, the donation is $70.00 (cost more for the part installed in Add-On cable). I will also included the Mini Fuse tap (see below) in the package so you do not have to purchase separately.
    upload_2018-5-19_23-26-35.jpg

So, for Add-On cable, all you have to do is donate $70.00 (due to parts cost more) and buy a Camera push switch (links above for you to buy).

To all the people received the Add-On cable before, I can pm you the wiring diagram so you can DIY (if you wanted). Just pm me.

    Best regards,

Sorry @Hoangde , I'm not sure I understand. With the new wiring (above) how does it work? Only 1 switch? Sorry for not understanding.

Ok boys and girls. Onboard air doesn't have a DPDT that fits the opening on the right side (2016+). Anybody know of one that fits the standard opening? I don't want to 'customize' the opening. I may want to trade this in sometime.

I have a few that I have been looking at that 'should' work. but probably will require mounting within a 'blank' filler. I'll pull them and include links this evening. You are wanting to go the three step switch (on/off/on), correct? I ask, because I have also been looking at on/on style as well.

Sorry for the delay, I got busy and couldn't find my info as I had moved to looking at on/on. So I had to do some sleuthing in my history/searches.

I know this one was a pretty close match. I figured I'd have to likely trim the tensioners off to fit - http://www.bepmarine.com/en/1001712
This is along those same lines, but a different purpose/manufacturer - https://www.gamainc.com/product/129e-bb/
This was a 'small enough to fit somehow' option I had found - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UC6RHG
This FleaBay find also appeared to be a workable solution - https://www.ebay.com/itm/112974900534
This is another of those FleaBay finds that appeared to work based on dimensions - https://www.ebay.com/itm/272969284653
I found this GENERAC switch, but couldn't find enough info on the dimensions to determine if useful - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HE93MU

That should put you on the path of enlightenment...hopefully. I hope you find your magic bullet.
